The Old Barn at Esholt

If you are looking for a wedding venue, we genuinely cannot recommend The Old Barn at Esholt highly enough. From the very beginning of the planning process, right through to collecting our things after the wedding, the entire experience was absolutely flawless. The venue itself is beautiful. It has that perfect rustic barn feel, is clean, incredibly well kept and set in a lovely location. On our wedding day it looked absolutely perfect. Every instruction and detail we had asked for had been followed to the letter, and it genuinely felt like *our* wedding rather than a standard package that had simply been fitted around us. The planning process was exceptional. One thing we particularly appreciated was that the team didn't just agree with everything we suggested for the sake of it. If they felt something wouldn't work, they were honest with us—but they would then use their experience and knowledge to suggest alternatives, many of which actually worked even better than what we had originally had in mind. Even the day before the wedding, they were still checking, clarifying and going to every effort to make sure everything was exactly as we wanted it. A special mention has to go to Diane, Harriet and Alex, who were all absolutely incredible. Diane helped us through the majority of the planning and organising, and we had most of our meetings with her. Looking back, we really came to appreciate how much thought she put into the logistical side of everything. She wasn't just telling us what we wanted to hear—she was making sure that what we wanted was actually achievable and would work on the day. If something wasn't possible, she always had suggestions and alternatives ready. She was also incredibly fair and transparent with the costs, keeping everything updated as plans changed and even removing and discounting things we had decided not to have, without us ever having to ask. That level of honesty and attention to detail says a lot. Diane and Harriet then worked like absolute troopers running the daytime side of our wedding. Somehow, the entire team managed to keep everyone and everything running smoothly without ever feeling intrusive. When they needed to be invisible, they were—but the second anyone needed something, they seemed to appear as if by magic. Alex took over for much of the evening and was just incredible. She is so friendly, warm and personable that I genuinely felt as though I had known her for years. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome and special, and she was an absolute pleasure to have there on such an important day. The food also deserves a massive mention. We chose the Taste of Yorkshire buffet, and it was incredible. Every single person commented on how good it was. You might not expect people to rave so much about a buffet, but it looked spectacular, the quality was fantastic and the quantities far exceeded anything we expected. Nobody left hungry! Even after the wedding, the service continued. Diane and Alex gathered together everything we had left behind and arranged it so that it was easy for us to transport away. There was absolutely no pressure or rush to collect everything either—they worked around us and whenever suited us best. Honestly, we feel like we received three times the service for the price that some venues charge just for hiring the room. Having the venue, the team and the catering all working together made the entire experience feel effortless. From the moment we first viewed the venue, we knew it was the perfect place for us, Dianna is an amazing person to work with and made the whole experience so easy and stress free form the planning to the final day. Harriet, Diane, and Niamh did a great job helping us organise this blessed day. They were willing and able to accommodate every whim we could conjure (within reason!), and communicated how our preparations would map onto the venue and schedule. Alex has DJed for the Old Barn for many years. Between country, worship and gospel, he’d never heard most of our playlist but did an excellent job mixing it in with wedding classics. Our largely secular friends and families (family now!) were on the floor for hours. Location is very scenic with woodland animals, quaint bridges, and open skies. Staff worked with our photographer to unlock fields for certain shots, and local drivers on the backstreets stopped for the white dress more carefully than most people would for a hi-vis. For ongoing and sudden health issues in the family, they were able to save food for latecomers, adapt the schedule, and provide for a number of disabilities. What can I say about this beautiful venue other than not only is the place amazing but the staff are also just as amazing! We had our wedding at the Old Barn and it was the best day ever! Everything went completely smoothly from the first minute to the last. The staff were amazing and the service was so great. All our guests said how wonderful the food was and the staff were. There was no awkward wait times and I felt completely stress free as I didn't really have to think about anything, they had everything sorted. The team at the Old barn are so helpful, nothing was no trouble. We booked this 2 years before our wedding date. They was very flexible with menu choices and things we wanted to change. The old barn was the perfect venue for our wedding. Diane and the team were amazing in supporting all of our requests (including those outside the normal ceremonies). The venue comfortably accommodated 100 day guests and about 50 evening guests. The team even set up the games that we brought to keep the kids entertained, and had everything ready to take away the next day. The driving range was a bonus! The day could not have gone any better. Dianne and staff could not do enough for us on the day. From start to finish it was smooth sailing even when we did not know what we were doing. Diane was so calm and accommodating even. Our whole day consisted of canapés, the ceremony, wedding breakfast, 3 drinks for guests, garden games, an evening buffet and their DJ who really know how to get a party started. Wow!! Wow, wow, wow!! Diane, Harriet and the whole team were fab from start to finish. During the planning of our wedding, all the way to our big day. They made sure our day was perfect. I could cry just writing this, we were filled with so much joy. It was flawless. We couldn't thank them enough. Get married here!!!!
