The Leeds Club

We recently held our wedding reception at Lost & Found Leeds Club. While the venue itself is beautiful, our experience was unfortunately overshadowed by poor communicatibon and organisation from the Events Manager. Throughout the planning process, we and a couple of our wedding suppliers found her difficult to contact. When we did receive responses they were often inconsistent or misleading. For example, we were initially told that we could use the Boardroom free of charge, but this later changed to an additional £1,000 minimum spend requirement. We were also told there wouldn't be enough poser tables because there weren't enough staff available to move them upstairs. Thankfully, our external decorators kindly moved them instead, ensuring the room was set up as planned. Separately, we were informed there would be no dancefloor because, again, we were told there weren't enough staff to move the tables. This was despite the Events Manager previously providing us with a floor plan that clearly showed a dancefloor. In the end, the venue staff did move the tables on the evening, leaving us questioning why we had been told it wasn't possible in the first place. There was also confusion over our finishing time. We had written confirmation that our reception would run until 1am, but the venue staff had been told midnight. Although this was eventually resolved, the bar had already stopped serving, meaning guests couldn't buy drinks during the final hour. Several important items we had delivered in advance, including our cake topper and children's activity packs, were also not passed on to the team. As a result, the cake was displayed without its topper and the activity packs weren't given out until much later in the evening. I do want to recognise Levi, the duty manager on the night, who was professional, apologetic and did everything he could to resolve the issues. He genuinely helped make the evening run as smoothly as possible despite the circumstances. Finally, we were disappointed with the buffet. We deliberately over-ordered, yet the food ran out very quickly and many guests didn't get anything to eat. We chose the Leeds club for our wedding as it was unique and offered so much more than other venues we visited. Especially the beautiful fire places, chandeliers, coloured tiled flooring and the fact we could have the whole venue to ourselves which made it even better! The staff were amazing before and during the wedding reception. Karen was happy to meet and discuss our requirements as much as we needed and was excellent at answering all the many questions. Believe me there were lots! On the day of the wedding the staff were extremely organised and helpful. This meant that we could relax and enjoy the day. We held our wedding reception at the Leeds Club this year, and to echo the other outstanding reviews on here, we really couldn't rate the venue and the team highly enough. Karen really helped us through the planning stages, making things simple and straightforward, with one of the main benefits of this venue being the ability to flex the arrangements and packages to fit exactly what we wanted. The team set the venue up exactly as we asked, whilst also making some really useful suggestions, removing one of my worries about not being to take care of it personally. On the day, Ellie, Ryan and the rest of the team made us feel so special, and couldn't have done more to make sure us and our guests had the best time! Several guests have subsequently commented on how good the team were on the day, and they personally appreciated efforts from them to help make things run smoothly. From our initial enquiry through to the big day itself, we were thoroughly looked after by Karen and the team – no request was too small, questions were answered straight away, and the team really couldn’t do enough to make sure we had everything exactly as we wanted it. What attracted us to The Leeds Club was that we could tailor the day to suit us and our budget, rather than being restricted by the generic package deals that most other venues seem to offer, and the fact that we had exclusive use of the building for the day. On the day itself, the attention to detail was second-to-none – the room was laid out exactly as we’d requested, and last-minute changes to table plans and the order of speeches were handled immediately by Nathan and Laura without them batting an eyelid. What particularly impressed us was that we had organised a table quiz that my husband and I had planned to mark later in the evening, but when it became obvious that we wouldn’t have time to do so, the team (unprompted) marked the quizzes themselves and handed us a sheet of results when they were finished. It was those little extra touches that really made the day extra special. The food on the day was stunning – several of our guests commented that it was the best meal they’d ever had – and the venue itself is beautiful, especially when dressed up for the wedding.
