Our wedding at Wivenhoe House Hotel was more amazing than we could have ever hoped for. Louise, the sales manager, was absolutely incredible - she answered all of our questions promptly and provided guidance and flexibility to ensure we had the most perfect day. The house and grounds are gorgeous and well maintained, providing an amazing backdrop for our wedding photos. The food was enjoyed by all of our guests, meeting all dietary requirements and special requests without hesitation. Everyone was so friendly and polite when sorting drinks and serving food, contributing to the welcoming atmosphere. The bridal suite was beautiful - amazing bath and shower, and a great breakfast with lots of options! As someone who has never been married before, we were unsure of the order of the day! Thankfully, the team at Wivenhoe House were so helpful in talking us through each part of the day and ensuring everything ran smoothly, and we’re so grateful we didn’t have any stress. First of all we want to start the review by saying a big thank you to the whole Wivenhoe House team for their efforts and support throughout the process. They helped us through all of the planning and provided us with helpful resources to assist where necessary. We had previously been to a wedding at Wivenhoe House and thought the guest experience was great. When we started looking for venues, we looked into quite a few around the Colchester and North Essex area but was drawn back to Wivenhoe House by its beauty and welcoming team. Some of the other venues we looked at did not have good communication when we enquired or a clear pricing structure, all of which Wivenhoe House had. From the get go, they made us feel at ease and like they had it all under control, and that really showed through on the day. A key piece of criteria for the venue was that it needed to have a lot of spaces for guests to stay. We had a lot of guests travelling from far and wide who kindly joined us on our special day. It was important to us that all of the guests could stay at the hotel and the team were great at organising the logistics for everyone. The rooms were great and everyone enjoyed the breakfast. Food throughout our wedding day was all incredible, we opted for the BBQ wedding breakfast as our wedding was in the middle of summer and everyone was saying how great it was. The same was said for the evening food as well. The team also kept a plate of canapés back for us while we were taking photos so we didn’t miss out. For the package itself, we felt this provided very good value, it came with a selection of rooms (we needed extra and they kindly at the same rate) and use of the bridal suite the night before and of the wedding, it also had the DJ included which was one less thing for us to source and all the basic things you need for a wedding (tables, chairs, cutlery, etc). The DJ, albeit included in our package, is a separate events company called Celebrations, run by a husband and wife team, Dave & Angela, we ended up meeting them a number of times throughout our wedding journey at various wedding shows at Wivenhoe House and they were very friendly and had other services you could add on such as a Photo Booth, voicemail phone, light up lett

We truly couldn’t have asked for a better coordinator or team to support us on our big day. From the very beginning, Pheobe was incredibly helpful, organised, and reassuring. Nothing was ever too much trouble — she went above and beyond in every possible way. One of the most memorable gestures was how she looked after our dog during the ceremony, making sure he was calm, comfortable, and part of the day. we had a summer wedding July 2022. we had a garden ceremony. from the day of enquiry to the day of the wedding, the team were fantastic, nothing was a problem, they were so willing to arrange, or sort out everytging. We originally booked during covid but dates were moved due to health reasons, the team were more than happy to assist they are great for advice and guidance for recommendations of suppliers that are loyal to them and reasonably priced also. they were especially kind to my father who is in a wheelchair paralysed, Lionel one of the management team made sure a member of staff was always on hand helping him, to make the day as stress free for both of my parents, from the day before when they arrived to the moment they left with their luggage. Lionel also organised the party of 20+ guests (including children) staying the night before the wedding the marquee for us all to have our evening meal together next to the restaurant, which was so kind. the groom and i got ready separately in different areas of the hotel. i had a bridal team of 10 as did he, the wivenhoe team, were there continuously helping assisting and asking if we needed anything, i had a particular set up of my décor for my tables, sweet cart etc, and lisa the events manager knew exactly my style and had it done perfectly. she was there early before she was expected helping and organising going above and beyond what she was needed to do, to make our day perfect. the food was amazing, we had cocktails, canapes, wedding breakfast and the evening buffet, everyone was impressed with the high standard of food and service.
