We had our wedding reception at The Royal Hotel, and honestly, we couldn’t recommend them enough! From the very beginning, Helen was an absolute superstar. She was so attentive, supportive and helpful throughout the whole planning process, and nothing was ever too much trouble. Whenever we had any questions or doubts, Helen was always there to guide us and put our minds at ease. She truly made the whole experience so much easier, and she’s definitely the one part of wedding planning that I’ll miss the most! All of the staff on the day were absolutely amazing and worked so hard behind the scenes to make sure everything ran smoothly throughout the evening. Our guests had so many lovely things to say about both the venue and the staff, but the buffet was definitely one of the biggest talking points! Everyone raved about how incredible the food was. We also had the DJ included in our package, and he honestly blew us all away! I don’t think there was a single moment when the dance floor was empty. He did an absolutely fantastic job and really helped make the night so much fun. ​We could not be happier with our decision to hold our wedding reception here! From start to finish, the planning side was completely seamless and stress-free. ​Helen was absolute perfection to work with. She kept us updated every step of the way, was incredibly friendly and approachable, and made sure we always knew who to contact even when she was on annual leave. We were expecting a standard, basic buffet, but it was a incredible spread—including hot options like mini pies and mini Yorkshire puddings with a huge variety. One of our guests even came up to tell us that they normally avoid buffets, but found this one absolutely delicious! They also handled dietary needs brilliantly: our coeliac guest was catered for with a fantastic gluten-free selection and was so impressed. ​For accommodation, as we have a toddler, we opted for the Family Suite instead of the Honeymoon Suite. GENUINE REVIEW honestly if I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. Everything from the food to the price was astounding. Our wedding coordinator (Helen) who works for the hotel, was beyond fantastic. She helped us every step of the way and dealt with every single request we had without any issue or hesitation. Helen the wedding co-ordinater was fantastic and helped us throughout planning of our wedding at The Royal. No job was too small and she even put our wedding cake together on the morning of the wedding so we could have time for some fresh air! Her and her team on the day we're so helpful and made everything go smoothly to make our day so special. The ceremony room and ballroom were just beautiful and looked amazing at Christmas time. The honeymoon suite was spacious and perfect. The Royal Hotel is an old regency style hotel so does have some quirks but that's what we liked about it.
