The Guildhall Northampton

We married in December 2024 in the Council Chamber at the Guildhall, we're both from Northampton and wanted to be married somewhere historical so this was perfect. There's a number of rooms to choose from based on number of guests or just your preference, however they are all beautifully preserved/presented, and we opted for the Council Chamber due to a family connection. The Guildhall was also dressed beautifully for Christmas with trees and lights everywhere which felt very special. We met with various members of the Guildhall Office team throughout planning, and they were all very friendly, but our Coordinator on the day was Anfernie and we cannot thank her enough for all her help! She was so attentive and really went above and beyond to make our wedding special (she even scrolled through hundreds of fonts on Canva to find the one that matched our signage so she could make a similar sign to be used to show guests where to go!). She also sorted parking permits for our florist and guests with mobility issues to park in the underground car park, and liaised with the coach driver on the day to ensure they were parked in the right spot with a permit to avoid any issues. The team did a great job setting up the room as we discussed/planned, and we were impressed with the level of flexibility we got with such a historic and important room to still make it our own for our ceremony. We did have our own florist bring flowers in but the Guildhall would have provided flowers for the ceremony/register tables included in the room hire costs. Overa

We had our wedding here in May in the council chamber upstairs. We were drawn to the venue due to the amazing architecture outside, and how different the rooms were to your typical wedding venues. We chose the council chamber as it was the right size for the number of guests we had, the staircase and hallway leading to it are stunning, and the chairs were great. I hate the typical office chairs with spandex covers, so absolutely loved the big leather thrones in the council chamber. We met Caroline for a couple visits beforehand and she was extremely helpful. It was great that we had designated parking right outside for 3 cars, could send our music choices in advance and we dropped off a tablecloth for the centre table and a basket of confetti beforehand. The photos after the ceremony outside the venue on the steps were beautiful. They did have a ceremony in the registry office on the same day, but they tried their best for the two not to clash and for our guests to be totally separate. It didn't impact our photos outside at all, which was the only thing I was concerned about. Overall I would recommend

The size of the venue meant we could have a civil ceremony with all of our guests (we didn't have evening guests). We didn't want a church wedding and the choice of nonreligious venues that are big enough for 120 people are few and far between. The building itself was also fabulous and made great photos!
