Where do we even begin? Our wedding at The Grand, York was everything we dreamed of and more. A classic, elegant affair with a relaxed, family-oriented atmosphere—and every single detail was executed to perfection by the most incredible team. The Grand is a venue that not only lives up to its name in grandeur and style but also in heart and hospitality. Daisy – The Heart of Our Wedding Experience The absolute standout of our entire journey was Daisy. From the very first meeting, she was a beacon of calm, joy, and professionalism. She guided us through every stage of planning with thoughtfulness and care, taking the time to understand our vision and bringing it to life in ways we didn’t even know were possible. Daisy went above and beyond—organising planning meetings, collaborating with our florist, and personally designing the tables with our stationery on the day (a detail we hadn’t even requested, but it was perfect). When you book a 5-star hotel for your wedding, you don’t expect to get a 6-star person, but that’s exactly what Daisy is. She truly made our day unforgettable, and we can never thank her enough for how supported and special she made us feel. Freddie & the Concierge Team – A Masterclass in Service Equally remarkable was Freddie and his concierge team, who made our guests feel like royalty. From ensuring all luggage was promptly delivered to rooms to greeting guests warmly and bidding them farewell with care, every moment of interaction was polished and personal. Freddie orchestrated the comings and goings of our guests with such grace—it didn’t go unnoticed, and it added a touch of seamless luxury to the weekend that everyone commented on. The Hotel – A Grand Home Away from Home We stayed in the Grand Heritage Suite, which felt more like a private residence than a hotel room—it was luxurious yet cozy, and the housekeepers truly went above and beyond to ensure everything was just right. They were so kind and attentive, always checking if there was anything we needed. We were also so touched to see The Grand proudly flying the Pride flag outside the hotel all weekend—from our check-in on Friday to our farewell on Monday. It meant the world to us and was a beautiful gesture of love and inclusion that we’ll never forget. The venue itself is breathtaking, and our guests were genuinely stunned by its elegance and character. Many mentioned not only how impressive it was, but also how inviting it felt—a rare and perfect combination. The Personal Touches That Made the Day Extra Special What makes The Grand truly magical are the little moments that showed us this was far more than just a venue—it was a family. One of the most touching examples: our friend’s young son is obsessed with trains, and knowing the building’s historic link to the railway, staff took the time to give him a behind-the-scenes tour, showing him the areas once used as the railway’s headquarters. It meant the world to him—and to us. That kind of thoughtfulness is priceless. A Place We’ll Always Return To The Grand, York gave us the wedding of a lifetime. The Grand took excellent care of us from the first point of contact through to check out on the morning after our wedding day. Daisy is a gem, and it was a pleasure to plan our wedding with her. She took the time to listen to our plans and also gave us great ideas for how to elevate them. We had an intimate wedding for four people, and Daisy understood that intimate did not mean lesser or less celebratory, but instead helped us to realise our vision for the day. At no time did we feel that ours was just another wedding at a wedding venue, but instead, that our day was special and important to everyone involved in the hotel, from the concierge through to the staff members in the spa. All our queries were always welcomed, and never did we feel that we could not ask a question or make a request. The setup of the room was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the general attention to detail was perfect. The suite we were provided was exceptional, and we loved the attention shown by the cards, drinks and gifts provided.

We are both so pleased we chose The Grand as our wedding venue and it will always be a truly special place to us. We cannot express how well we were treated, from the moment we arrived the day before our wedding to when we left the day after. We were absolutely stunned by the suite we were booked into for both nights – by far the most luxurious hotel room we have ever stayed in and it was a dream to get ready in on the wedding morning. We would have to write a very long review to list all of the ways The Grand made our stay so special, but to list a few: Sandro and Nigel the doormen were exceedingly friendly and helpful, Eslam made the check-in process completely relaxing and efficient (offering us mulled wine while we waited for our room), James was always quick to offer assistance and came to our room to transport our wedding cake to the kitchen when we had expected to take it ourselves, and Daisy, Callum and Simon in the events team worked incredibly hard before and on our wedding day to make sure it ran smoothly and our guests were all happy throughout. What really impressed us was how much care every single member of staff at The Grand seemed to show towards making our wedding as wonderful as possible for us. Even if something didn’t quite go to plan (as happens with every wedding day), it felt like the team genuinely wanted to help and provide the best solution. Daisy was helpful and clear through the full planning process and was able to answer all our questions as they came up. We had the most amazing wedding at The Grand on Sunday 3rd December 2023. The hotel is absolutely stunning, it was decorated so beautifully for Christmas. From the moment we walked in the hotel door we felt at home. Despite the hotel being so grand it has a beautiful cosy and warm feeling about it, and smells divine. Our bedroom suite was unbelievable, I was overcome with emotion when I walked in, completely overwhelmed by its stunning features…and the bath…wow, I felt so lucky to be staying in such a magnificent hotel. The suite was absolutely perfect for my bridal party and I to get ready in, there was so much space. The grand board room was absolutely wonderful for our ceremony and wedding breakfast, the tree by the window was simply magical. When I close my eyes I am back in that room and that's a memory il treasure forever. The staff were nothing but amazing from start to finish! All our guests on the day had any need they had catered for by the catering staff who were so attentive and so warm and friendly. How the room was set up was absolutely beautiful, and the turn arounds seamless.
