Merchant Adventurers’ Hall

Our guests were totally wowed by this venue, we had our wedding reception here. We had the meal upstairs, I was able to have the tables set up in any formation I liked. I dropped everything to decorate the tables the morning of the wedding and the team at Adventurers set it all up for me. I was allowed to decorate with fairylights around the pillars too. The beauty of the venue means you need very little decoration, a few flowers on the tables and you're set. the room does the rest! We then move downstairs for dancing in the undercroft, we hired equipment and brought it in. The caterers we chose were Croft Kitchen, who have done many weddings here and helped the evening run seamlessly. In the lead up to the wedding, the team at adventurers answered all my questions quickly and helped with anything I needed. I really couldn't have asked for more. I only wish we didn't have to have music off at 11.30 but I understood this when booking the central york location there are noise limits up to a certain hour. I could have stayed

We had the BEST day. Rob, Andy and the team at The Merchant Adventurers were amazing from looking round the venue 2 years in advance to the clean up the day after. So helpful, kind, easy to work with and professional. The Hall gives you everything you want from a venue, a great backdrop, outside space, accessibility for your guests and a stunning dance floor.

We wanted to have our wedding at a venue full of history and character and we fell in love with the Merchant Adventurers' Hall in York as soon as we saw it. We couldn't believe that having our wedding at this beautiful 600 years old building was so affordable. Although, it's in the heart of York, the Merchant Adventurers' Hall offers privacy. It has 2 spacious halls (one upstairs and one downstairs) and, if this is not enough, it has a huge private garden. Many of our guests complimented our choice of venue and said it's stunning. June 2012 - We had our evening meal and ceilidh here. Truly a stunning location for dinner in an ancient hall and a large area for sitting and dancing downstairs. Hidden treasure in central York that has beautiful, well-maintained riverside gardens. Absolutely recommend it for couples who want an original and historic location.
