Mansion House, Edinburgh Zoo

We had the pleasure of using this venue for my daughters Bridal Shower. This was a small event, held in the downstairs bar area, with High Tea and games we had brought along. All staff at the Mansion House were extremely professional, friendly and accommodating, both in the run up to the event and during it. For example my elderly mother arrived very tired and thirsty after a busy morning, and they brought her some tea and offered to make her some toast too, even though this was not 'part of the package'. The zoo was the perfect venue for us and I'm sure for lots of couples, there were so many great things that it's hard to put it all into one review! The ceremony room is beautiful, the location was perfect for us, as it is such an easy venue for guests to park at or get public transport to and from. We loved the fact that we could both get ready in rooms within the venue itself - couples can easily avoid each other if they wanted to but we loved the option to spend some time together in the morning whilst also having plenty of space to get ready. The room for "the boys" is a really special library, and "the girls" have a lovely bright room which is ideal for hair and make-up: getting ready to the sounds of monkeys in the early morning was pretty special! The venue combined so many of the key elements we were looking for - a traditional venue (with a twist!). We had guests with accessibility requirements which the venue worked with us to accommodate with ease. The option for our guests to explore the zoo during the reception and whilst we had our photos taken meant that everyone was kept well entertained in what can otherwise be a "slower" time. It was the perfect venue for us, for both the ceremony and reception, lovely rooms to get ready in, and much of the organisation and all the food included in the price. She made all the planning and organizing in the lead up to our wedding straightforward and exciting. We got married at Edinburgh Zoo in July 2021, after having to postpone our wedding due to the pandemic. The events coordinators were so accommodating and helped us find a new date as well as signposting suppliers when we lost a couple due to having to move the wedding. We had the most incredible wedding day, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. The Mansion House is a hidden gem within the zoo itself and is beautifully decorated. From start to finish the whole experience was without compare. The helpfulness of all the staff was above and beyond from seeing the venue, choosing the food to the actual day. Tailoring the day to our desires and needs never seemed too much of a hassle. Everything was well prepare and they happily assisted us put our final personal touches. We had our special day here on the 28th August 2021. It was originally 28th august 2020 but obviously had to be moved due to covid. The staff at the zoo could not of been more helpful and were always on hand to answer any questions I had and ease any worries I had. This despite the hard times they were also facing with so much uncertainty. Our day could not have gone any better. We had the most special day and a big part of that was the zoo and all the staff that helped play a part. From the moment we arrived in the morning everything felt really relaxed and nothing was too much. The whole day was perfect and I couldn’t fault any of the preparations that were made. The venue was beautifully decorated and the staff on the day went above and beyond to help with anything. Even making up a small gluten free buffet for one of our guests in the evening so she could come eat with us all. We went for the package that included everything and it was worth every penny. Kimberley was a pleasure to work with. She was always kind and understanding. We had to rearrange our wedding twice, due to covid, and Kimberley made this a much easier process. We are grateful to have picked such a brilliant venue to work with through a turbulent time. The zoo was an incredible venue. Everything was seamless and we couldn’t have been happier with the day.
