We got married at Danby Castle Barn on 5th August 2026, and from the moment we booked our wedding, we knew we had made the perfect choice. Looking back now, we genuinely couldn’t imagine celebrating our special day anywhere else. From the very beginning, both of us were given incredible support and guidance. The team were always there to answer questions, offer advice and reassure us whenever we needed it. That level of care continued right through to the big day, and it made such a difference during what can otherwise be a very stressful time. The venue itself is simply stunning. The location, scenery and setting provide the most beautiful backdrop for a wedding, and every part of the day felt incredibly special. It was everything we had hoped for and more. The food deserves a huge mention too — it was absolutely amazing! Our guests are still talking about how delicious everything was, and the quality and presentation were fantastic. Most importantly, the staff were incredible. Everyone we came across was friendly, professional, welcoming and genuinely invested in making our wedding the best day possible. A very special shoutout has to go to our wedding coordinator, Abby. From the moment we started planning, Abby was absolutely fantastic. She supported both of us throughout the entire journey and helped make everything feel so much easier. On the wedding day itself, knowing Abby was there gave us complete confidence that everything was in safe hands. We honestly cannot thank her enough for everything she did for us. Danby Castle Barn wasn’t just our wedding venue, it became part of our wedding story. It gave us memories that we will treasure for the rest of our lives, and we will always look back on 05.08.26 with the biggest smiles. Thank you to the entire team for helping make the wedding of Ben & Hollie everything we dreamed it would be. W

We got married at Danby Castle on the 29th July 2026 and we couldn’t have chosen a better venue to celebrate our special day! The setting was the most perfect place to tie the knot, and the beautiful buildings and countryside made our day feel like us. Our wedding coordinator, Katherine, made our day go so smoothly from start to finish. No request or question was too much, and she made the day flow perfectly. She is a credit to the whole Danby team, and as a whole they were so supportive throughout our time with them, right from booking through to our wedding day. The little touches they added on our day, including contributing to our guestbook were such a lovely surprise addition that made us smile even after the day was done. If we could relive our wedding day again I would choose Danby over and over without

We got married at Danby Castle in June 2026. Our experience with the team and venue was fantastic. We had our own personal wedding co-ordinator who directed us up until our wedding day, any last minute requests were never a problem, communication was fantastic. On our wedding day Natasha (our wedding co-ordinator) could not of done enough for us. It was relaxed and all ran incredibly smooth. All the staff were polite, helpful. The venue itself self is beautiful. Food was amazing (our guests are stil

We got married at Danby Castle on the 6/6/26 and had Natasha as our wedding coordinator. She, alongside the rest of the team, were amazing from the point of booking till the end of our night. Every question we had got answered fast by either Natasha or another member of the team. We had some issues with guests dropping out last minute but Natasha was really lovely and supportive during this and helped us swap new people in and move meal selections around. The food at the venue is amazing and all our guests had lots of good things to say about it, as well as how pretty the venue itself was

Wow! We have just had our wedding at Danby Castle Barn and it was fabulous. If you’re looking for a venue which offers true beauty with dedicated staff who cannot do enough for you, this is the place for you! Natasha was our wedding planner and she was truly fab, I had a disaster when one of my booked professionals did not attend and she was straight on it, even offering to drive to Whitby to buy make up! Instead, by some miracle they found me a professional make up artist who came within 20 minutes and was amazing. For this I will always be truly grateful. The whole day ran seamlessly, all the staff are professional and everything from the registrars, the waiting staff, chefs and DJ were second to none. The feedback from our guests was all positive, the food is amazing no one will leave hungry! We also had our dog with us and she was even made to feel special and very much part of the day! Natasha is so professional but also very passionate about making you feel special, it felt like more than a job to her, she even shed a tear when my dad got upset. We can honestly say it was the best day of our lives, made all the more special by th

We recently got married at the beautiful Danby Castle Barn and we are honestly so, so glad we picked this wonderful place. Katherine, our wedding co-ordinator, was honestly fantastic and I’m so glad we were blessed with her to assist with our wedding day. The venue is honestly stunning and we genuinely had the best day! Everyone still goes on about how amazing the food was (even myself as a very fussy and picky eater ate every sin

From our first viewing to our wedding day; Danby always felt special. The venue itself is so lovely. The mix of the rustic and modern finishes works beautifully and the stunning scenery is an added bonus! The staff were great from start to finish and our wedding coordinator Abby was fantastic. She was so organised, welcoming and bubbly throughout our day. The food for our canapés and wedding breakfast was brilliant and the choice we had was great! In fact, some of our guests said it was the best wedding food they have had. The drink selection at the bar and the prices for a venue that is quite remote was fantastic. We organised a coach to take us and our guests back to our accommodation afterwards, both of which were recommendations

We had our wedding reception at Danby Castle Barn in March 2026 – it was the most incredible day, and the team at Danby are fantastic. When we came to view the site we were immediately very struck by how friendly and accommodating the staff were, and we loved the different spaces on site for people to be able to spread out and relax whatever the weather. We also appreciated that so much was included in the package. From the moment we booked to the day of the wedding, the staff have been absolutely brilliant. I remember having a few worries early on about various logistical issues, and not living locally we couldn’t just pop down on the open days, but the team at Danby were so helpful at answering my questions. Our food tasting was spectacular, and it was so lovely to have that in the new Daleview Barn. Also really helpful to have a group tasting to see what the space would look like with lots of people in. Planning the schedule for the day was made so easy, thanks to Kaylie and Natasha. Both were absolutely brilliant. Kaylie had an initial planning meeting with us, which was super helpful, and then Natasha took us through our final details meeting and was our coordinator on the day – honestly I don’t know what we would have done without them! Nothing was too much trouble, they were both so helpful at accommodating last-minute changes when some guests dropped out, and they really made us feel special. Kaylie and Natasha are both outstanding. From the moment we arrived at the venue on the day everything just flowed. Natasha was there to greet us with a glass of fizz (we had our ceremony off-site) and took us up to the jury room to enjoy our canapes in peace – we really appreciated having that time to ourselves to take everything in, and she was always there during the day to help and answer any questions. The drinks reception was great fun – the canapes went down a treat with our guests! – and the wedding breakfast was spectacular. The food was outstanding; so many of our guests have said it’s the best wedding food they’ve ever had, and we were all absolutely stuffed. The chefs are fantastic, especially at accommodating dietary requirements. We had a couple of guests with awkward allergies, but nothing was too much trouble for the team. We had a large guest list (c.100), and so we really appreciated the efforts that the staff went to to make sure everyone was fed and watered. The waiters were prompt and efficient – everything just worked! Bar staff were great and efficient, and our night manager, Ben, was fantastic too. We had the best day, an

Danby Castle Barn was the perfect venue for our winter wedding. Despite the cold season, the atmosphere felt incredibly warm and welcoming, thanks to both the beautiful setting and the wonderful staff. We got married November and we had the most amazing day, the food was brilliant for our reception and Danby Castle itself was just incredible. That being said a few improvements definitely need to be looked at. I was told that we would have a call from our wedding co ordinator the week before just to touch base however we didn’t get this. When I arrived on the morning of our wedding I was then told that our wedding coordinator wasn’t in. For someone with OCD this straight away made me feel anxious plus I was really poorly unfortunately on my wedding day with a chest infection and a cold. I then had explain some of the arrangements we had with our original co-ordinator, so good job I created a file with everything in as I just didn’t have the time or wanted the stress of this. The co-ordinator we had was okay, but wasn’t overall attentive especially for when my mum arrived it was raining at this point, so my groom needed to be in the Jury room so the door upstairs was locked between so they couldn’t come through to accidentally see the bridal party, however initially the co ordinator wouldn’t let me mum through that door and expected her to walk around outside in the rain to get to the bridal party as she wanted to see me, so luckily our photographer stepped in and opened the door for her to go downstairs to see the bridal party and me. It was just unnecessary and unhelpful. When it got to me being needed in my dress I was very nervous at this point and felt I was rushing however I had no reassurance from the coordinator on timing or anything. We also had arranged for a grand entrance with a special song which was a 90’s hit, and when we came into our guests spinning their napkins and cheering us on, the music was so quiet and ended up being pointless. We had to ask for the music to be raised several times. The food on the evening was pork and the sandwiches were cold, so a lot was left for waste and our guests were eating the only hot potatoes and coleslaw. Luckily we had cakes and some of our guests were still full from the main which we couldn’t fault that. Do our overall experience we did have the best day, but we felt we had more support and guidance from our suppliers who were our Photographer Aaron, our Videographer Nick, and my hair and make up Artists Laura & Paige. We even had our Decor Designer wait until our ceremony finished to transfer our decor over to the bar for behind our sweet heart table who was Wow My Events - Ingrid. We can’t thank them enough. Thankyou to Danby Castle Itself for being so beaut

We got married in Danby castle at the end of June and it was truly magical! The view is honestly incredible and so many of our guests said they’ve never seen a setting like it for a wedding - we are so pleased we picked Danby! Here are some of the things which really stood out for us: - the food was amazing! We did an all vegan wedding and were initially nervous about this, but we didn’t need to be - the canapés (gyozas and sweetcorn fritters) were delicious, as was the main meal - the sticky toffee pudding was INCREDIBLE!!! If you want to do an all vegan wedding - this is the place! They were also very accommodating with allergies and really took it seriously (they made our guests with nut allergies sign something but she said this felt like they were taking it seriously and reassured her). - The venue is stunning, the barn was beautiful and even at full capacity (just over 100 people in the small barn) it didn’t feel too cramped. All I would say is with that many people you can’t hear the music at all, so doing a wedding breakfast playlist was a bit of a waste and we also couldn’t hear our entrance music over all the cheering). - All the staff were so friendly and lovely. - There was never a queue at the bar - the staff were quick at serving and the drinks prices were really reasonable. - The sound limiter in the bar/dance floor part wasn’t too quiet - the music was loud and the dance floor was big enough. We wanted the review to be honest, so although we really loved our day, there are some administrative and organisational things that really need improving: - communication with staff: every time we rang we would speak to a different person (all lovely) and would often be given different answers to the same question. - We were told we could have certain drinks deals as part of a one off Black Friday deal, then when calling back to book we were told they weren’t part of the deal / they didn’t know the deals were on. - We requested 2 food options for our wedding breakfast as we weren’t having a meat option, but we were initially told no (which we felt was unfair given that non-vegan weddings would generally have 2 options with meat/veggie/allergens) but it was subsequently agreed to. - We were told because we were having a bigger wedding (around 100 day guests), staff would need 3 hours to serve the three course meal and we agreed to a timeline on that basis. However, just 3 days before our wedding, we were told that food service would actually only take 2 hours and staff suggested that we should move forward all our evening suppliers and evening guests, otherwise we’d have an hour spare. In the end, we decided to move suppliers forward but not evening guests. Then the next day, 2 DAYS BEFORE they told us it would in fact take 3 hours to serve everyone - it was too late to change plans with the suppliers at this point and fortunately we had not taken their advice regarding evening guests. In reality, food service took a little over 3 hours so our evening guests still arrived whilst we were doing speeches, which wasn’t ideal. The inconsistent communication and last minute changes so close to the wedding were stressful! - We agreed at time of booking and in the final details meeting that my bridesmaids and I would be allowed into the getting ready room at 7am (slightly earlier than usual). However, when my mum contacted the venue 2 days before the wedding, our co-ordinator said she was not aware of this request and it seemed that this would not have been done if we had not reminded the venue of it at late notice (which really would have been a disaster with hair/makeup timelines). - The venue also contacted us numerous times in the days leading up to the wedding (which was a stressful and busy time!) to say that some of our suppliers had not got back to them regarding PAT testing of electrical appliances (having previously said that they would request this from suppliers so that we didn’t have to). They told us that the suppliers wouldn’t be able to come if they did not provide this information. We had to contact the suppliers, a number of whom had told us Danby had never actually requested this Information from them and others said they’d already given it to Danby. Danby rang me at 4:30pm the day before my wedding following up about this. This seemed unnecessary and chaotic and added a lot of last minute stress. - They gave us the wrong wedding cake the next day, which wasn’t a big deal because we just went back the later in the evening and exchanged it and they were very apologetic, but worth checking it’s your cake before you leave! The other thing we felt needed mentioning was that the venue is not set up for big weddings (or at least is wasn’t in June, things may have changed?)- after all our guests had had one reception drink, they ran out of glasses and were serving drinks out of cheap disposable plastic cups. Not the vibe for a wedding or when you are paying that much for a drink! They just weren’t prepared for large numbers of guests. Overall, the communication with the venue was quite chaotic but we wouldn’t have changed the venue. It was beautiful and perfect

We wish we can do the day all over again exactly as it was. We wouldn’t change a single thing. Leah and her team were wonderful, super supportive, helpful and friendly. Especially organising a wedding from a different country, we had nothing to worry about as her expertise and care made us feel at ease and knew that we were in the right hands. We and our guests enjoyed our time at Danby so much and we’re grateful to have Leah as our wedding coordinator. The whole Danby team all made us feel so comfortable and welcomed.
