Woodlands Hotel

We chose Woodlands Lodge for many reasons..Firstly, because it is a beautiful hotel and location in the New Forest. The large garden leads into the forest and wild ponies came to the hotel on Wedding morning! We didn't need to bring much decoration. We dressed the window in the room for the ceremony and the doors were opened into the gardens. The suite of rooms for getting ready was big enough for 6 bridesmaids and our Hairdresser. We could also meet the registrar there without the grrom getting a pee of the bride! It led out to its own private garden. The location was quiet at night. We had a mix of local friends, and family who had to travel. This meant we had an extended time with those who travelled. Dogs are welcome. A friend's dog sitter let them down so the dog came too. After our ceremony, we had photos in the lovely grounds and a sit down meal in the dining room with our closest friends and family. We went to a Blessing at the St Mary's Eling Church. We had a live band in the evening with the lights twinkling on the pergola and sparklers. We had a diverse set of needs that we felt the hotel accommodated. It has ramps for wheelchair users, all our diets were checked and catered for. We had several people with neurodiversities and we felt the layout with places to spread out and hide away were great. The venue was the perfect size for what we were looking for. Having everyone there staying under the same roof made it so much easier and having it all to ourselves all weekend was fantastic. There were a couple of things which could be improved, cleanliness and upkeep does need a bit of improvement. It's not dirty on the surface but little things like lamp shades and bugs in uplighters need a bit more attention. Some of the spaces are starting to look a little tired, I understand this is a gradual process up update everything though. This is a superb small, 16 bedrooms, hotel with personal friendly service food to die for and accommodation that meets your every need. I am hoping to have my wedding there in 2003
