About Tudor Barn Eltham

*UPCOMING WEDDING FAIR* Wednesday 16th September 2026 - please visit our website to buy tickets Exclusive use. Up to 180 day guests and 200 evening guests. A genuine 1525 Tudor barn in thirteen acres of moated London parkland - not a hotel function room dressed up to look historic, not a barn conversion, the real thing. Tudor Barn Eltham is the only surviving Tudor barn in London, and one of the most unusual wedding venues you'll find in the capital. Three ceremony settings come as standard: the Tudor Gallery's main hall, seating up to 180 guests facing a dressed curtain backdrop; its more intimate fireplace end, for ceremonies of 90 or fewer; or an outdoor ceremony on the front lawn, licensed for up to 180 guests between April and September. Wedding breakfasts seat 180 for a plated meal or 160 buffet-style, with the room reconfiguring for up to 200 guests once evening guests arrive. The barn itself dates to 1525, built for William Roper and his wife Margaret More, daughter of Sir Thomas More, Henry VIII's Lord Chancellor. The surrounding estate later became home to Edith Nesbit, who wrote The Railway Children here between 1899 and 1921. It's Grade II* listed, and it shows: original oak beams, a working medieval moat, and grounds that include rose gardens, fountains, and a stone bridge - the kind of setting that does most of the work for your photographer before they've even set up. A dedicated event manager is assigned to your wedding from enquiry through to the day itself, and our wedding fairs and private viewings run throughout the year if you'd like to see the space before committing. Well Hall Pleasaunce sits twenty minutes from London Bridge - close enough for an easy commute, far enough to feel like you've properly left the city. Arrange a viewing and see it for yourself. To marry legally you must give notice at your local register office, and we always recommend doing this early. We explain how it works, and why it matters, in our blog on giving notice and booking your registrar. Is Tudor Barn Eltham easy to reach for London and Kent wedding guests? Yes, our Tudor wedding venue in Greenwich is just five minutes from Eltham Station, with fast trains to London Bridge and good links across South East London and Kent. In addition, our own private car park for up to 30 cars is available to hire for the day, which is ideal if you would like reserved spaces for your wedding party and key guests.

We had our wedding at this venue and couldn’t have been happier. The staff were fantastic from start to finish, with a special shout-out to Georgia, who answered questions we didn’t even know we had and was always happy to chat through our ideas in the months leading up to the day. Everyone on the day was so friendly and helpful, making everything run smoothly. The venue itself is beautiful, with gorgeous surroundings that provide plenty of perfect photo opportunities. There are some limitations on what decorations you can bring in, but the venue is honestly already so beautifully decorated that this wasn’t an issue for us at all. The food was fantastic - really tasty and generous portions. One small but significant detail we really appreciated was that the food was hot and served to everyone at the table at the same time, which isn’t always the case when catering for children or guests with allergies. The DJ from Staar was also brilliant, getting the atmosphere just right and keeping everyone dancing well into the evening, and likewise Staar were really helpful in coordinating with our illustrator. Accessibility was an important consideration for us, so we wanted to mention this for anyone in a similar position. The ceremony and reception are upstairs, and due to the venue’s listed status, there are understandably some limitations. The venue has a stair climber, operated by staff, to help guests get upstairs and back down. The only accessible toilet is outside, so you would need to use the stair climber anytime you needed to use it. Thankfully, our guest has some mobility and was able to use the toilets upstairs. Given the age and listed status of the building, we think what the venue has been able to provide is pretty good so just something worth being aware of. Our guest who used the stair climber said it was very smooth, and any initial nerves they might have had were completely put at ease by the staff. We can’t thank the whole team enough for making our day so perfect. All of our guests commented on how relaxed, enjoyable and well-run the day was, a

We couldn’t have been happier with our wedding venue. The building is absolutely beautiful and provided the most stunning setting for our special day. It has so much character and charm, and the location is fantastic too. Everything about the venue made our wedding feel incredibly special, and it was exactly the atmosphere we had hoped for. We received so many lovely comments from our guests about how beautiful the barn and surroundings were (the pleausance it resides in remains open to the public but it is peaceful and an amazing place for pictures). The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, they were very accommodating for everything we wanted, even last minute adjustments (Thank you Georgia and the team!) We’re so h

We loved the venue, the setting is amazing for London and there are very beautiful (public) gardens behind the venue which are lovely for photos. Lots of our guests mentioned how much they enjoyed the food, ourselves included. There were a few sticking points for us though. 1. The entertainment. When viewing it's suggested that the in-house entertainment DJ is optional. It's provided by another company, etc. We both work in entertainment and have friends who wanted to DJ the wedding for us. However we were told (by the in-house entertainment firm, with Tudor barn on the email chain) that this was not possible. The in-house entertainment firm said only they were authorised to play music in the evening, due to the sound level restrictions in the venue. We offered to pay the DJ fee, in case the money was an issue, and were told the same (that only the in-house team were authorised to DJ). Our friends are professional DJs and could have performed using the same volume limiters the in-house team used and we were told no. This isn't clear when booking. As the venue/in-house firm said we could use their services or have no DJ at all, we asked if their DJ could play a selected playlist. Music is very important to our event and so we spent days creating a several hours long playlist for the night. However on the day the DJ seemingly switched off and into his own playlist throughout the night, despite ours not finishing. There are loads of songs on the list that were not played at all, and we'd spent a while organising them into an order for the night. Not a big deal, but very frustrating given the above communication from their team, the cost and time involved, and the lack of choice in who you can have do your entertainment. 2. Tasting Menu My partner could not attend the tasting event at last minute notice due to flight cancellations around the Iran war. However we were told there was no other option for them to taste the menu due to the timings of the event (they host tastings on a quarterly basis), unless we wanted to pay individually for each dish sampled at a fairly expensive cost. I understand the organisation involved in tasting menus, but given the exceptional circumstances and the fact we'd already paid thousands in a deposit for the event, it was not great that my partner could not taste any food without us splashing out a couple more hundred pounds. The venue could be more understanding here I feel. Overall we loved the food, setting, etc. But as feedback the venue and anyone booking should bear the above in mind for next time, especially given how expensive a wedding is. With this in mind, I'd like to have seen the venue be more open in communication about the DJ and flexible with the food tasting. On the day the people manag

We had our Wedding day at this stunning venue and we could not be happier with how our day turned out!💍 From the very first time we saw it we instantly fell in love with the beautiful barn, its decor and not forgetting the acres of gorgeous gardens💐 We recommend booking one of their Showcase evenings as this is where we saw the venue come to life🥰 We met Jade who is fantastic - I wished she could have planned our entire day as she just got our vision during the showcase evening! The planning side was relatively easy but what I would say is double check with the venue what you can/cannot have there as this was not always clear when planning with Suzie, so please check to avoid any disappointment. Fast forward to our special day which was made truly magical - and very hot due to the heatwave!! We were very lucky to have the lovely Georgia host our wedding and we were so thankful for her and the team! Georgia is so lovely! Everything ran smoothly and we did not have to worry about anything on the day! The whole team working that day were simply wonderful and we could not thank them enough!✨ Food was amazing with huge portions available - our guests complimented the food so much! The Tudor Barn was the perfect venue for us! It was the perfect size for our small/medium wedding after looking at venues that were wither much too big or a bit too small. The building and grounds are beautiful, and we loved that you are still in London. Georgia, our coordinator was AMAZING. While we had a little apprehension at first the second we met Georgia all nerves were calmed, we gained a cheerleader, friend, confidant, and amazing professional. While we were drawn to the fact that Tudor Barn does many weddings, and has a system (good for us doing this at a distance and without family near) Georgia really allowed us to make the space and the day our own! The other vendors recommended by Tudor Barn were also fantastic, and it was all so SMOOTH! The DJ from Staar, Jon-O was fantastic, the food was really, really good. Beyond wedding food. All of the day of staff were lovely.. I was so pleased with our choice of venue, our day was more than I could have imagined, and while there is a big team at work at Tudor Barn, my true thanks and praise goes to Georgia who not only kept it all on track, but al

We had the most amazing wedding day at Tudor Barn. The building and grounds are so beautiful and a great space for guests to mingle and to take photos. We had several comments about the high quality of the food, and we had a few different dietary requirements to cater for and the team handled these with no issues. We got married at Tudor Barn in March and by the grace of god it was a beautiful sunny day! This made the whole day just soo much more stunning. We had the most magical day and if we could do it again we wouldn’t change a thing! The team, specifically Georgia and Amelia, are kind, understanding and so helpful and open to what we as a couple would like. We felt comfortable to let them know what we wanted for the day and felt listened to. We also appreciated all the knowledge that the management share with you. During the check in meetings they are doing their best to make sure you are all organized and have thought of everything for the big day. On the big day all the wait staff were helpful and professional. We had nothing but rave reviews from our guests saying they loved the barn,

We had the most incredible wedding day at Tudor Barn Eltham and honestly couldn’t have asked for more. From start to finish, the team were fantastic. We chose to have a slightly unconventional wedding with quite a few personal changes, and nothing ever felt like too much trouble. The flexibility and willingness to make our ideas work meant we truly got the day we had imagined. A huge thank you to Suzie, our wedding planner, who was so supportive and helpful throughout the whole process. She really understood what we wanted and made everything come together seamlessly. On the day itself, Amelia, our events manager, was absolutely amazing. She worked tirelessly behind the scenes, making sure everything ran smoothly and going above and beyond for us and our guests – we honestly can’t thank her enough. The food was delicious, the DJ was brilliant and kept everyone dancing, and the whole atmosphere was just perfect. It was such a special day and we’re so grateful to the entire team at Tudor Barn for making it exac

We highly recommend Tudor Barn for a cosy festive wedding after getting married there at the end of November 2025. The staff were friendly and helpful from start to finish and Suzie in particular really helped guide us through the planning process. Food was particularly important to us as we have a mix of ethnicities between our families and wanted to ensure they meal catered to everyone's tastes. The kitchen team helped us curate an Indian/Caribbean menu and took on our feedback about spice levels, resulting in a great meal that our guests loved! The staff were also super helpful on the day and really helped everything flow seamlessly and keep us calm in the craziness. The venue itself is gorgeou

When we were looking at a venue, we thought we were looking for a small, discreet ceremony. Little did we know we would find it at the Tudor Barn. We attended a wedding fair and it was my ‘husband’ who said it just felt right! The grounds are so beautiful. Even with the rain on the day, it was still magical. A massive thank you to the planners and organisers. The day ran seamlessly. Every detail was perfect. Our guests could not believe how everything flowed so well, due to the amazing staff. All the staff were calming and kept us on track so. They guided us through each part of the day and evening. They knew what was next and were one step ahead. Planners, organisers, waiting staff, bar staff……all amazing. Glasses constantly replenished, food delicious. Thank you so much to the chefs! All our guests expressed how amazing the food was and piping hot! The evening was rounded off with the amazing DJ. We had discussed the type of music we loved, and they achieved the perfect balance. Everyone was up and dancing and saying how much they loved the tunes! It has only been two weeks since we married her
