We recently celebrated our wedding at The Old Hall Ely in April, and it could not have been more perfect. We were fortunate with the weather, which allowed us to hold our ceremony in the beautiful outdoor pavilion, surrounded by the most stunning views. The rooms are absolutely charming, with every detail thoughtfully presented, and the entire venue is truly breathtaking. The staff were generally nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, they were attentive, friendly, and professional, making the day run smoothly and effortlessly. All of our guests commented on how lovely both the venue and the staff were, which really added to the joy of our special day. There were just a few minor mishaps along the way. We arrived the night before to find no cot in our room, despite having made the team aware of this since we booked while I was still pregnant. On the day itself, a communication slip-up meant the staff were at the opposite end of the venue with my bouquet, so I ended up walking down the aisle without it! They also briefly played the wrong playlist at the beginning of dinner. We currently do not live in the UK and every single member of the team we dealt with made the whole process extremely easy and relaxing! From the morning of with our arrival at the venue to every single minute throughout every member of the team were faultless, from the ladies who were appointed to myself and my now husband to the staff serving dinner I honestly cannot think of one bad thing to say and all of our guests said the same thing! There is not a single thing that you can throw at the Old Hall and their team that would be too much trouble (And believe me, as a type A bride with anxiety I certainly gave it a good go). The whole day ran like clockwork and was so well organised. Our guests were raving all day (and still are over a week later) and how smoothly everything ran. They are absolutely experts in what they do and will go above and beyond to ensure your day is a true fairytale. We got married on 09.08.23 We knew from the moment we viewed this venue that it was perfect for us. The level of service you receive at the Old Hall is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. From the initial meeting with Antonia and a private show round with Mrs M, we knew we were in experienced and exceptional hands. The meetings leadings up to the event to meet the team were so organised and well structured. The taster evening where we were put with couples we shared common interest with was stunning. We live around the corner from this beautiful wedding venue and had often discussed potentially getting married there one day! The reality was everything and more we had ever imagined! The staff were amazing throughout the day, all of them seemed to thoroughly enjoy every part and it felt like you were truly celebrating with friends not just staff! We had been told that Alex runs a tight ship, and thank god! Weddings are stressful but never once did we have to add worrying about timings or where to be or what to do in that! My tiny complaint with the venue is the morning... You aren't allowed in the Bridal suite until 11am... for a 1pm wedding this was a worry for a few weeks prior, luckily my suppliers were regulars at the Old Hall and timed everything perfectly - but I do feel like as breakfast is 8:30am you should be allowed in this room for 10am to really allow yourself to relax and enjoy the room and getting ready without moving around from marquee to room. Apart from that tiny moan, the wedding venue is gorgeous - the fires were the main reason I loved the idea of a winter wedding and being cosy whilst getting married - and everything in that respect was idyllic and exactly how I imagined. This is often photographed as the most amazing summer venue (and it is, I've been to a few summer weddings) but it is equally as gorgeous in the autumn/winter! While the venue is absolutely stunning and the staff were fantastic that doesnt make up for the fact that we were robbed out of all the money we paid for our food!!! I wouldnt even put their chef forward for a job at mcdonalds. What we were served at our tasting session was fabulous, but what we received on the day was a disaster. Everything was different to what we had tasted, presentation was different taste was completely different and some items we had tasted werent anywhere to be seen! After complaining we were fobbed off with ridiculous excuses and were then told the chef that done our tasting quit before the wedding and they thought it ok to change items on our menu without even informing us!! Our portion sizes werent even big enough to satisfy a three year old. After a couple of emails back and forth the father replied (who we'd not met once during our preparations) basically saying 'i am not offering you a solution and if you want to take it further contact my solicitors)!!!!! We held our wedding at The Old Hall on 17th October 2015. The staff are simply incredible and because of them out day went flawlessly. Their attention to detail and willingness to make your day everything you want is second to none and done with such precision you will wonder why you ever worried about if your vision was being understood. I can't describe how incredibly impressed I was with the food service. Not only did it taste fabulous but it was served with such discretion and style, the likes I have never seen before. We got married here recently on Sunday 10th July and it couldn't have been more perfect! The staff right from the word go were beyond amazing and on the day made sure everything ran exactly as it should! The beauty of the venue speaks for itself, with every one of our guests commenting on how it was the most beautiful wedding venue they'd ever seen.
