Tall Johns fit the bill for what we were looking for in a wedding venue; exclusive use, offering plenty of accommodation and a blank canvas. Furthermore, it was a beautiful place with lots to explore in a beautiful setting, even in the rain! Our families stayed on site (in the Manor house, stables and the cottages) for the weekend so we had a few meals all together at Tall Johns that everyone enjoyed and that complemented the organised chaos of the actual day! Having not had a big wedding in our family we may not have been the most prepared however, Archie (the boss trouble shooter on site) managed to field all queries seemingly without breaking a sweat! In the run up to the weekend, Liza was fabulous at responding to emails and clarifying details to ensure all went as smoothly as possible. Ken, chef for the smaller family meals, received many compliments for his lovely manner and managing such a tasty breakfast for so many people! Our plan A was to be married on the lawn, but it ended up raining in July, so Archie was great at supporting the move to the Granary and facilitated me checking out the set up on the wedding morning. It was cozy and didn’t need any additional decoration being a lovely well-kept building. We then had our drinks reception in the Granary and the outside covered courtyard with the main dinner and dance on the barn. We loved having the different areas to work with and felt it facilitated a nice flow of the day. The barn was a perfect place for a lively barn dance! We have some amazing pictures! We had the most amazing wedding at tall John's in May 2024. We took exclusive hire of the whole site and stayed in the beautiful house from Thursday night to Sunday. Dinners and breakfast were really good quality and value for money and it was lovely to have the gorgeous sitting room and games room to ourselves for the evenings. We did a big day of set up on the Friday (day before the wedding) with Archie on hand to help out with things like ladders, and then the wedding day itself was amazing to get married on the lawn, have a big feast for 110 people in the main barn, and use the smaller barn for cake, cheese and chats away from the dance floor. We used the courtyard space for fire pits which tall John's provided for us, which was great. We managed without a wedding plann

Mike and I had our wedding at Tall John’s House in December 2022. And we honestly couldn’t have picked such a perfect venue. From the moment we viewed Tall John’s, we completely fell in love with the place- the house, barns and grounds are beautiful, and it was exactly the kind of ‘blank canvas’ wedding venue we were searching for. Even better-it’s dog friendly, so our little pooch could be included in our day too :). The whole planning process was a dream- Liza was so helpful and relaxed throughout. The place was so flexible with your plans, and the whole experience was stress free. Even with some last minute changes that were out of our control, Tall John’s staff were understanding and reassuring, and everything went so smoothly. Archie was great and very attentive throughout, and was there during the day for us and our guests if we needed anything, which was a great help too! The fact that the place is exclusive for the weekend of your wedding made it such a personal and relaxed place to be. We could make the weekend exactly how we wanted it to be! Ken cooked a lovely meal for us and the immediate wedding party the night before the wedding, and nothing was too much trouble! It was a lovely way to spend the night before the big day once we had finished decorating, and we really enjoyed ourselves. We got married in the main barn, and had our drinks reception in the Granary, with the reception then back in the main barn, as it was during the Winter. The main barn was so beautiful, and looked even better than I ever could have dreamed of! Everyone loved the Granary too- and were loving the secret room with the pool table! We had some lovely photos and videos in the grounds too. We used the Dr’s Orders bar for the evening, which Archie and Sophie provide. They were so lovely to plan with, and they were fab on the night- everyone commented on how friendly they were, with a great selection of (very reasonably priced!) drinks. The cottages were spotless and such a lovely place to stay. Our guests stayed in the cottages, stables and Manor House-many said to us afterwards the the beds were the comfiest they had ever slept in, and were full of praise for the breakfast the next morning, which was a lovely way to end the weekend.
