About Shermanbury Place

Venue The Shermanbury Place Estate is a unique marquee and outdoor wedding venue nestled in the heart of the West Sussex countryside, just 20 minutes south of Horsham. This secluded estate is home to arable farmland, tranquil woodland, a beautiful 12th-century church, water meadows, and abundant wildlife, creating a truly magical setting for your celebration. Our versatile approach allows you to curate your dream wedding reception surrounded by expansive hay meadows, a trickling stream and breathtaking views of the South Downs. Available from May to September, the Party Paddock offers a beautiful blank canvas where you can let your imagination run wild, with photogenic, nature-filled backdrops at every turn. From a relaxed BBQ beneath a giant tipi to an elegant banquet in a marquee, you're free to choose your own suppliers and create a celebration that's completely personal to you. The venue is also proudly pet-friendly, because we know four-legged family members deserve to be part of the celebrations too. Facilities Exclusive use of the 1.5-acre Party Paddock Capacity for up to 100 guests Parking for approximately 60 cars Meadow camping available for a small additional fee As a dry-hire venue, you're free to choose your own marquee, caterer, florist and other suppliers. If you'd like a little guidance, we're also happy to recommend a collection of trusted local professionals. We also work closely with two experienced wedding planners and on-the-day coordinators, who we'd be delighted to put you in touch with if you'd like support with your plans. Equally, if you'd prefer to organise everything yourself, the choice is entirely yours. St Giles 12th century church is just steps away from the paddock if you choose a religious ceremony (handy if Great Granny insists on some religion in return for footing the booze bill!) Thinking of seeing the venue for yourself? Join us at Wed in the Wild , our outdoor wedding showcase taking place on Sunday 27th September, where you can explore the estate, meet a handpicked collection of local wedding suppliers and discover everything The Shermanbury Place Estate has to offer. Free entry – more info on our Events page. History We hope you'll feel the same magical connection to this special place that we do. Over the centuries, the Party Paddock has played many roles. Once a holding pen, or pound, for drovers travelling to market with their sheep and cattle, it later became the estate's glebe land, with orchards and vegetable gardens providing food for local labourers. During the Second World War, Canadian troops built Nissen huts here before the area became a stable yard and exercise ring for horses. More recently, the land has been carefully restored, with scrub and excess trees removed and new grass planted, creating the dedicated events space you see today. Rich in history and surrounded by nature, it's now ready for you to create the next chapter and bring your own wedding vision to life. Please note: the Main House is not currently available for wedding photography.

Antonia was great to deal with and the location was ideal for a school leaver’s party. Antonia creatively suggested an Urban Explorers theme and we used the dilapidated house as part of the backdrop. We are coming back this summer, this time using the party paddock for our next Leaver’s party - Route 66 themed with a marquee, hay bales, fire pits, BBQ and milkshake stall. Antonia is very accommodating and has some great ideas and contacts - and such a pretty, rural view from the paddock. Could definitely imagine a

We love Shermanbury and will treasure our memories of our joint 50th party forever! It is such a beautiful setting and a blank canvas that you really can make your event what you want. Antonia and her team could not have been more helpful with helping to make arrangements for the party and even suggested fun activities to keep the kids and teens occupied. It was so easy getting everything set up - it all went so smoothly and the weather was amazing. The camping was an added bonus as it meant that we could all stay together (although some did retreat to local hotels and B&Bs) and we carried on the celebr

A few years ago we celebrated our children’s graduation at this beautiful old manor, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect location. The grounds are incredibly spacious, surrounded by stunning nature, making it ideal for a day outdoors. There was plenty of room for the children to run around and play — we even had slides and bouncy castles brought in, which fit perfectly on the large lawn. The setting was fantastic for adults as well. We were able to organise a barbecue, enjoy music, and relax in a truly picturesque atmosphere. The combination of history, charming architecture, and open space created a memorable and authentic British outdoor party experience. If you’re looking for a venue that offers fresh air, beautiful scenery, and everything you need for a great celebration, this manor is an excellent choice. Highly recommended!
