Newstead Abbey

It was always going to be Newstead Abbey! Not only is it a stunning venue, with its beautiful scenery and grounds, it holds so many precious memories for us visiting when we first met, and then going on to taking our children for picnics. When choosing this venue, we wanted to have the chance to come back for those special anniversaries. Upon looking around i knew as soon as i got onto the isle this was the one for me! it was just long enough to calm you down ready for entering the room. we stayed in the cottage on site which ticked every box, we was still able to have a car and get the feel of driving to the venue. the cottage itself gives off the perfect vibes big enough for my wedding party, which consisted of 4 bridesmaids my sister 2 make up artists a photographer and videographer. i also had 2 family members turn up for a quick look to! The staff were incredible throughout the entire day, professional, friendly, and so helpful evening offering my husband and his bestman a drink to calm his nerves! they was so respectful when being ushered thru the venue stopping to let us past and wishing us luck. the organisers did a fantastic job keeping everything running smoothly and stress-free for us. they kept in touch with any questions, worries and concerns i had on the run up the wedding as well, sorting everything with our venders all i had to do was pop my venders details across on email and newstead did the rest! we also loved the courtyard area, which created such a lovely atmosphere for our guests to enjoy, the fact that you had somewhere to go away from the dancing, and speak with guests and just enjoy the night was perfect. the grounds was open to the public in the day which i did think id be nervous about but it added a lovely boost of confidence having people congratulate you and wish you luck! so dont let that put you off! we honestly couldnt have asked for a better venue for our special day and would highly recommend New

We were planning our wedding from America, so naturally I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but the entire experience exceeded anything I could have imagined. My husband grew up in Nottingham, and his family lives just 10 minutes from the Abbey, which made it even more meaningful to celebrate our wedding there. My husband and I, along with our 30 American guests, came over not only to celebrate our wedding day, but also to bring our two families together and share with them where my husband grew up. We had our wedding in June 2025 at Newstead Abbey, and could not have asked for a better day. Newstead is close to our hearts and to get married here in this perfect setting was a dream come true. The abbey is stunning and having access to the grounds in the evening for our photos led to some spectacular captures. The team could not have been more helpful, from our first meeting until after the day had completed. Chelsea led us through everything we’d need to know during the planning while Lydia, Toby, and Chloe took over nearer to the time and on the day. The day ran so smoothly and we couldn’t have done it without them! It was great to have the ceremony and reception in one place, with plenty of space for all our guests to enjoy themselves. The ceremony room is gorgeous and includes walking around the cloisters which felt so special. We particularly liked having our evening disco outside in the courtyard area too. It's also helpful knowing you have exclusive access to the venue the day before and after - this made set up and tidying up afterwards stress free.

We chose Newstead Abbey as our wedding venue as living locally, we consider it our favourite place to visit for walks, picnics, it’s tranquillity and the beauty of the house and gardens. The Orangery has a real wow factor and was perfect for our wedding ceremony, with guests entering through the historic cloisters. Reception drinks in the Garden room and a confetti shower in the adjoining garden before photographs in the Spanish garden and the many superb locations around the house. We held the Wedding Breakfast in the West Front Suite which was ideal for our number of guests, with evening entertainment in the Courtyard. The Newstead Abbey staff were brilliant having helped us with the initial planning, itinerary, seating and decoration then they ensured the whole day went to plan. We couldn't have chosen a better venue for our wedding. Every last detail was catered for by the wonderful team and it couldn't have gone more smoothly. We were given tours of Newstead before we chose, and we had the option to go back as many times as we liked and view the rooms before the big day. Chelsea and Steve were fantastic and didn't spare any detail on making sure it was perfect for us. All of our guests were blown away with how beautiful the Abbey was. The orangery was stunning and we decorated the West Front Suite exactly how we wanted it, to be given the final details the morning of the wedding. We had our wedding here in May 2005 in the Orangery and I can't imagine a better settting. Although they have up to 7 weddings here each day we were not rushed or told we had only a set amount of time. The gardens were reserved for our guests after the ceremony and I didn't see any other wedding parties so it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves! Beautiful gardens

We got married in the Orangery, which is a lovely room which is for Civil Ceremonies. Pros - fantastic grounds for photos - make sure your photographer takes you round all the grounds, not just the lawn outside the Orangery. Cons - only 20 minutes per ceremony, and on our day, there was a wedding in the chapel next door and we could hear their organ!
