Minster Mill & The Old Swan

We were lucky enough to have our Wedding with Minster Mill & The Old Swan. Initially we were looking at the gorgeous events rooms at Minster, but when discussing with Gemma, ultimately went for exclusive use of The Old Swan to match the cosy winter vibe we were after. From our first visit we were set and a huge part of that was down to the incredible team at the venue, in particular Gemma. No question too small, no request too big, Gemma was amazing. The day would not have been what it was without her help. The venue on the day was absolutely stunning, and all the planning was looked at with us in exceptional detail to make sure we were 100% happy - this meant we could actually relax and enjoy everything, leaving everything else to the team who dealt with it seamlessly. We were also able to have welcome drinks the night before and a full breakfast for all of our guests the next day that Gemma coordinated. We stayed at the Old Swan and Minster Milll as our daughter was to be married there on the Saturday. Our review is therefore both as an hotel and as a wedding venue. The situation is beautiful. It is set in a quintessentially English village with the River Windrush running through the property. Prior to the wedding and on the wedding day itself all the arrangements were handled principally by Amber and Andrew. Both were not only extremely professional but also gave the impression that nothing was too much trouble. This resulted in the minimum of stress for the families involved. A BBQ was organised for the Friday evening. The staff coped admirably with wedding guests arriving late into the evening and ensured everyone sat down to a beautifully prepared meal. Late minute changes to the wedding plans were handled swiftly and with no fuss. My overall impression of the experience was of a highly professional unit but a unit which engendered an air of friendliness. The entire wedding day was superb. Despite catering for 120 guests all the staff on duty were very friendly and very efficient. The food was excellent. The hotel staff even stepped in to look after our daughter's dog when our previous plans to have it looked after fell through. We are getting gushing reports from all our guests on how attentive your staff were and how wonderful the venue was. Special thanks to the chefs who we didn't get to see on the day. In fact, our best man reported that it was the best wedding he'd been to and was even better than his own! We had a wonderfull,unforgetable wedding. the weather stayed dry and warm, the room was decorated beautifully. All the staff involved were excellent and went that extra mile to accomodate our wishes. In particular, Andrew did a first class job of coordinating everything enabling both of us to concentrate on the day. Our reason for writing was to write a special thank-you to Amber and all the staff for going that extra distance to make our Wedding Day so special - we can`t thank you enough. A special thank-you must go to Andrew (Events Manager) for all his help and support on the actual day. There was nothing that I asked of him that he did not perform with a smile and he was always discreetly on hand to make everything run smoothly and without hitch. What was also reassuring was that whatever I asked I knew it would be done with quiet efficiency and wouldn`t have to check - even down to concealing the owl glove under the ceremony table at the last minute. Everything was exactly as pre-planned and as a result made the day run smoothly in a relaxed atmosphere for us. Many of the guests were visiting for the first time and were all stunned by how beautiful the Hotel and setting looked - it was breath-taking. The patio area by the Mill stream was ideal for the drinks reception and the beautiful, colourful and well manicured grounds were a particular feature. Our photographer was particularly delighted as the grounds, temple and fabulous hotel offered an enormous choice of ideal photo opportunities which resulted in our having a fabulous record of our very special day.
