We celebrated our Wedding reception at Marwell Hotel on 12.06.2026 following a local Church wedding and what an amazing day we had. From the moment we first viewed Marwell Hotel in 2024, something just felt right. The light and open spaces, lovely patio area and beautiful woodland surroundings had us sold. There was plenty of room for our guests to move around and allowed us to set up a range of activities and decorations in the space including garden games, crisp wall, love ladder and many other things. We had both Maplethorpe and Oakwood suites and hired the rooms the afternoon before in order to ensure all activities etc were set up - highly recommend. With the hotel change over and having a change in wedding coordinators 1 year before our big day, we felt a bit nervous - there was absolutely no need. Faye took on the job, kept us reassured and worked hard to ensure our day was seamless. An incredibly professional, kind and caring coordinator who genuinely wanted us to have the best day possible - an absolute asset to the team. Thank you Faye for all of your efforts and keeping us informed every step of the way. Jacob took care of the reception later into the evening, and again everything remained seamless, thank you! The staff at the hotel were all fantastic, from the menu tasting evening, to booking rooms, to serving our guests on the day. All staff were professional and ensured our guests had everything they needed as well as accommodating our drinks token request for the bar tab. Thank you all. We thoroughly enjoyed our menu tasting however was concerned that catering on a wider scale on the day would cause a lack of quality and attention to detail - this absolutely was not the case. The food was incredible, we all had full up stomachs and had many compliments on the food. We opted for the 2 course gold select menu which allowed our guests a choice from 2 mains and 2 starters, this was plenty of food and the kitchen team catered for all dietary requirements. One slight hiccup was the evening buffet did not highlight a gluten free option for a family member however this was quickly resolved by the team. We unfortunately didn’t make it to breakfast however our family and friends said it was very good! Our guests were all happy with their rooms, and we are aware that the hotel is currently undergoing renovations. The honeymoon suite was perfect, spotlessly clean and bed comfortable. We would highly recommend marwell as a wedding venue! It is a gorgeous venue with beautifully lit rooms and lovely outdoor areas. Compared to other local venues they were incredibly competitively priced, food portions were huge and absolutely delicious - we were wowed at the food tasting but were concerned it wouldn't be as good when done on a large scale but it was incredible and we had loads of guests come up to us and say how good the food was! Honestly I couldn't have imagined getting married anywhere else. For us it was because it's where we got engaged 8 years ago. I love the beautiful yet rustic views. We booked Marwell 2 years 8 months before our big day. We had a lovely show around and a chat to discuss our wishes for the day. We had the most wonderful wedding day at Marwell Hotel. We were assigned Faye as our wedding coordinator and throughout the process she made the whole thing incredibly smooth. Communication before the wedding day was brilliant and we had regular meetings to ensure we knew what needed to be done and when. On the day everything went incredibly smoothly and the food was delicious. They were great in allowing us to set up the day before and taking everything apart on the evening to make it easy for us the next day. Choosing Marwell Hotel for our wedding was one of our biggest regrets. From the outset, organisation was chaotic and communication unreliable. On the day itself, the coordination we paid for simply did not exist. The bridal party were left cold and unfed, staff had to be repeatedly chased, and a receptionist entered the bridal dressing room while the bride was partially undressed demanding a key — something no couple should ever experience. Bar service was severely understaffed despite prior agreement, canapés were poorly managed, suppliers were left without food, and the wedding breakfast ran over two hours late. The food was nowhere near the quality of the tasting and several elements were incorrect or overcooked. We lost a significant portion of our paid evening reception due to poor coordination, including valuable time with our photo booth and audio guest book — meaning we now have fewer photos and recorded messages from our guests. Bad weather was handled with no initiative or planning, resulting in key wedding photos being taken in the car park instead of the woodland setting we had discussed. What has been just as disappointing is the aftercare. Our formal complaint was met with defensiveness rather than accountability. A change of ownership was cited to limit responsibility, and the compensation offered did not reflect the scale of what went wrong. Even after reluctantly accepting a reduced settlement to close the matter, the refund was delayed, prolonging the stress. This venue did not deliver the service, professionalism, or care expected of a wedding venue. We are left heartbroken that so many avoidable failures overshadowed such an important day. Majority of staff didn’t have a clue what they were doing. organisation was shocking, one of our dinner tables collapsed and wedding guests ended up clearing up the mess themselves as staff were so slow to respond. We celebrated our wedding at Marwell Hotel this weekend, and it was absolutely fantastic! We booked out both the Maplethorpe and Oakwood rooms so that we had separate spaces for the ceremony and reception. It also meant we had use of the outside area between the two rooms which was lovely for our guests as it was quite a warm day! Marwell have been so lovely over the last 18 months whilst we've been planning our wedding and have always replied to our millions of questions! They organised menu tastings for us, put chocolates, fizz and rose petals in our bridal suite, and made sure that everything was perfect for our big day. Our day-of coordinator, Emma, was helpful in the morning, even fetching a broom herself and helping my groom and his ushers sweep the outside area to make everything perfect! When I arrived, Emma arrived to greet me and make sure I knew where I was going, before helping the bridal party sort themselves our and get ready for the ceremony. Afterwards she guided us somewhere private to have a few moments to ourselves before greeting our guests, and then made sure they everything ran smoothly for the remainder of the day. The venue itself is absolutely stunning - both rooms are immaculately decorated and make such a beautiful impression when you enter. They were exactly what we were looking for! Thank-you to everybody who helped make our wedding day as perfect as it was. It was everything we wished for and went smoother than we could have ever imagined. Every member of staff we came into contact with was pleasant and professional. The kitchen/waiting staff provided the incredible food for the menu tasting and the wedding breakfast, the reception staff were always so helpful and knowledgeable, making checking in and ordering breakfast nice and easy. The team who turned the room around between the ceremony/breakfast/reception did an amazing job and so promptly too! Most importantly a massive thank-you to Sophie, our wedding co-coordinator. Despite still being fairly new to Marwell by the time our wedding came around she was incredible, she was up to date with everything that was pre-planned and offered us more services to make our day even better! My wife and I had our wedding in May this year at The Marwell Hotel. Stephanie was our wedding planner and she was incredibly helpful and friendly and helped us plan what would be a wedding better than either of us could home for. We visited the Hotel to have a look and within a few minutes we both new that it was perfect for us. It has a modern but quirky feel set in the forest and has these stunning walk ways which take you through the woods. The day itself was really well planned and being a bloke I didn't really have a clue what I was doing but the staff helped me through the entire day. The food was outstanding and everyone had nothing but lovely comments about it. We stayed in a lovely suite and true breakfast was also very nice. I would recommend anyone visit to enquire about their wedding plans.
