Humber Barn

We are so thankful we were recommended the Humber Barn. I remember the day we took a look around, torrential rain, dark and loomy, and I still fell in love with the venue and immediately felt at ease with Sammys warmth. It was like we knew her our whole life. The venue is gorgeous and has various options for your ceremony indoors and outside. We chose the ‘chapel’. Guests loved the grumpy bar when they first arrived and post ceremony we made our way to the terrace and field area for the most delicious canape boards. Sunshine, umbrellas and hay bayles. Guests commented how beautiful the surroundings were with views or dartmoor and likened it to Devon’s ‘Yellowstone’. More delicious followed with the roast boards and hog roast in the evening. All fresh from the farm or neighbouring farm. I even caught my ‘vegan’ guest having a hog roast in the evening. Irresistible! The humber team make the transition from day to evening seem seamless. They moved my flowers from the ceremony to the wedding breakfast, brought my vision to life, and nothing was too much (a running theme you’ll see in the reviews). Not only do I wish we could repeat our wedding day over and over again, I genuinely miss the planning process with Sammy. I’ll always remember her saying ‘if that’s what you want, and it’s possible, then why wouldn’t we’. There are no bounds to the stereotypical wedding packages, no hidden costs, no inconvenience. We got married at Humber Barn, and honestly, it was the best day of our lives! From the very beginning, Sammy was absolutely amazing. She listened to every idea, understood everything we wanted, and made the whole planning process feel so easy and relaxed. Nothing ever felt rushed, pushed, or too serious. she was always there to help, and before we knew it, the months had flown by and everything had come together perfectly. The day before the wedding, Sammy introduced me to Ruby, and wow… she was an absolute pocket rocket! She was by our side from start to finish, making sure everything ran smoothly. Between Sammy and Ruby, they knew every little detail inside and out, so we never had to worry about a thing. Their organisation, preparation and support were second to none. The food was incredible! We chose the hog roast, and let me tell you – it was absolutely gorgeous. So many of our guests commented on how amazing it was. Then the evening pizzas came out, and they were such a treat. They were honestly insane and went down so well with everyone! We also stayed in The Retreat, just a few minutes from the venue. It was the perfect place to get ready with my bridesmaids. We got married at Humber Barn in June, and from the very beginning Sammy completely understood the vision we had for our day – calm, relaxed, and full of candid moments. She absolutely delivered! We had around 160 guests, which is no small task to manage, but everything ran so smoothly. The team had everything under control, and nothing ever felt stressful. The food was incredible – the hog roast was to die for – and so many of our guests commented on how amazing it was. Our day was on the 26/05/26 and incredibly hot day! All of the staff were so attentive. We would like to give a massive shout out to Ruby who helped us set up the day before and during the day if there was anything we needed. We had several meetings with Sammy who is absolutely amazing she made us feel at home and nothing was too much trouble, she helped to plan the perfect day. I can’t even begin to put into words how wonderful Humber Barn and their team is! Sammy made everything possible for us she was literally my fairy godmother throughout the whole process of mine and Josh’s wedding! She and her team went above and beyond for us and completely put me at ease. The Barn setting where we got married in was completely mind blowing and with our guests sitting on hay bales really gave us our dream boho vibe! The food!!! Omg the food was out of this world! Better than I even imagined and perfect for our whole style! We went for a bbq style share board and it really did not disappoint and we still have our friends and family talk about how great it was. We first met Sammy at Humber Barn with no real plan and an idea of a possible Christmas wedding. From this Sammy created the most perfect day for us. The venue is stunning and the smaller ceremony barn was perfect for us plus the grumpy farmer. We had the most incredible experience with Humber Barn for our wedding. From our very first visit, the staff were so friendly and welcoming, and every time we returned they took the time to answer all of our questions, making the whole planning process feel relaxed and easy. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful, and we loved that everything is in one place- It made the whole day flow perfectly. What we especially loved about Humber Barn was the flexibility it gave us – we were able to do exactly what we wanted and bring our vision to life in the way we had imagined. When we booked Humber barn the second ceremony barn hadn’t been done up but by the time our wedding came around it was finished and looked amazing! Our family played our 1st dance, which was beautiful. We had a local band and a DJ in the evening and dancing til almost midnight. We had 40 guests in the day and an extra 86 at night. The barn looked incredible with the tables made up, delicate floral arrangements and with the strings of lights at night. Our guests were blown away with what a fantastic wedding/venue it was. The staff were really helpful and did lots of the taking everything down the next morning. The careful planning made it all seamless. Sammy met me/us numerous times to tweak our plan and a cuppa and cake was always available. My nieces with special needs were 2 of my bridesmaids and with additional support, they had a marvellous time, too, as did all the extended family.
