Hockwold Hall

As soon as we toured Hockwold (even on a fairly dreary February day!), it was the clear frontrunner for us out of the many venues that we had looked at both in person and online. Not only is it a beautiful venue which barely needs any decoration adding to it, but all the staff were incredible from the very start of the process, right through to after our wedding day. They always went above and beyond and made us feel both like we were in safe hands and that we were a priority for them, which is no mean feat considering how busy they are. It makes such a difference when you can tell that the staff all love what they do and working together. The hall itself has something for every guest, whether that be the garden games, secret gardens, hidden swings or the interesting array of animals which keeps the children (both big and small) entertained during the quiet moments of the day. There is also so much included with the venue which you wouldn’t think to expect, which really made Hockwold stand out to us when we were first looking to book. Some of the standout extras at the venue for us were the dancefloor (perfect for a bride that loves to dance all night!), the variety of spaces for guests to use during the day, and the cellar so we could end the celebrations when it felt right for us. We were also very keen to find a venue with accommodation on site as many of our guests were travelling a long way, which we did find surprisingly difficult when looking at venues, but Hockwold could also tick that box for us. The rooms in the Hall itself felt super luxurious, but the additional living space and kitchen area also felt really homely which was just right for us the morning after the wedding. Hockwold also made the planning very easy for us- they asked all the right questions and the right times so nothing was forgotten in planning. Their recently introduced planning portal was a great tool for us to easily refer back to everything we had discussed with them and allowed us to easily reach out if we had any random questions along the way. The dedicated food and wine tasting events were also great fun and helped make the catering decisions very easy. Finally, we were also very impressed with Shefs- the food was excellent and the catering staff were seamless on the day. They were very flexible and their menus has so many different options that we did not feel at all restricted in making our food choices. Hockwold hall was amazing from start to finish! It was one of very few venues we looked at & once we saw the outdoor venue we fell in love with the idea of an outdoor ceremony, this along with the venue have a very good price point for everything that it has to offer! we booked our wedding 3 years in advance and during that time I spent a lot of visits to wedding fairs and open days and got to know the staff very well, to the point we even joked the morning of the wedding about not seeing each other again! the staff were always on hand to answer my 1000`s of questions and never treated any question like it was ridiculous. they offered their expertise and knowledge the whole way through. The planning system they have in place leading up the wedding is incredible and helps to alleviate the stress of ensuring that they have the information needed for your day! on the day I had Anna & Molly who were amazing all the way through, they ensured we were running on time, continuously checked in on the wedding party to ensure everyone`s welfare as we got married on one of the hottest days of the year. they liaised with our vendors incredibly to ensure smooth running of the day! the venue was stunning and such an incredible backdrop for our photos, because of the history of the venue it can get very hot on the hottest days of the year, the staff done their upmost to help ease the heat with fans in all the rooms and an aircon machine by the top table, as well as offering plenty of ice water througho

Hockwold Hall was absolutely stunning, and for the price we paid, the full package was incredible value. Planning our wedding honestly couldn’t have been easier, as so much was taken care of through the venue itself. The in-house catering was amazing. They accommodated my intolerance perfectly and also incorporated Russian dishes into the menu, as ours was a Russian-English wedding. The dishes were exactly how they should be and the food was absolutely delicious! Our DJ and florist were also partners of the venue, and neither disappointed. The entire location feels so high-end and offers so many beautiful opportunities for photos. The marquee was gorgeous, and we also had the petting zoo open for our guests — something we never expected to become one of the biggest highlights of the day for so many people! A special mention has to go to our coordinator, Beth, who was absolutely outstanding. Having someone so competent, organised and reliable there to coordinate between everyone on the day took an incredible amount of pressure off us. Our day could not have gone more smoothly and I think a big part of that was down to the venue and the professionalism of the staff there. Leading up to the day they were very good at answering our questions and concerns in a timely manner and also putting my worries at ease as the bride. On our wedding day is what I want to shout about from the rooftops. As the bride I didn't have a single worry about keeping to our schedule or making sure the groom didn't see me. Choosing Hockwold Hall for our wedding was one of the easiest and best decisions we made. From the moment I first viewed the venue, I fell completely in love. Meeting Richard and Beth solidified that feeling—their genuine passion for the Hall and their commitment to reducing waste is truly infectious. I called my fiancé immediately and told him to pay the deposit; there was simply no other choice for us. For us, Hockwold Hall was more than just a beautiful backdrop; it was our home for two nights. The sense of exclusive hire makes you feel incredibly special and completely unrestricted, allowing the celebration to flow naturally. I also had a deep personal connection, as my Nannie used to live just up the road, and we spent Christmases at the old pub (now the Inn). Seeing the space transformed by the current team, while keeping that wonderful, warm atmosphere, was incredible. Our guests constantly complimented the venue, with many saying it was the best wedding venue they had ever been to. The outdoor ceremony space was beautiful, and the weather held out perfectly, but knowing there was a very capable and elegant Plan B was highly reassuring. The unique features, like the animals on site, added an extra layer of charm and magic that you simply won't find anywhere else. Later, the basement space provided the perfect setting to continue the party after the marquee. We were consistently impressed by how reasonably priced everything was, from the venue hire itself to the drinks served on the day. Considering the sheer grandeur and the all-encompassing experience, the value provided is outstanding. Richard, Beth, and the team ensure that you are treated like family, making the whole experience feel personal and relaxed. If I could change one thing, it would be to heed the venue’s advice on suppliers. We opted for an outside supplier, and the clear-up the following day became quite stressful due due to things being misplaced and the supplier not knowing where to go. While this had nothing to do with the venue itself, I now understand why using the recommended suppliers, who are already familiar with the space, is so crucial for a seamless experience. For future couples planning a highly detailed wedding like ours, I would also strongly recommend hiring a wedding planner. Although the venue coordinators are fantastic and arrived at 10 am, having a dedicated planner from the start would have reduced the need for our groomsmen to run around organizing things on the morning of the wedding. Our wedding at Hockwold Hall was nothing short of perfect. From the very beginning, the coordinators went above and beyond, offering invaluable support, clear communication, and a genuine understanding of our vision. They ensured every detail ran seamlessly, which allowed us to relax and enjoy the day knowing everything was in safe hands. The beautiful grounds provided a breathtaking backdrop, creating the most magical setting for what truly was the best day of our lives. We hired the Coach house, St Peter’s Cottage and the Inn the night before, check in wasn’t the smoothest but after a couple of calls this was sorted. Other than this everyone had a lovely comfortable stay and were happy with the accommodation. The day of the wedding the coordinators all came to meet myself and got stuck straight in asking what they can help with, they spoke with all of my vendors and took pictures of details we wanted included and completely understood and ran with our vision. We couldn’t say one bad thing about the staff on the day they were all absolutely fantastic even down to helping with our children and getting myself ready for the aisle. The day was absolutely beautiful they instantly knew how to adapt timings for the day based on things that occurred during the day and us running late getting ready and never showed any concern with the change of timings showing great professionalism and understanding of how to run a wedding day. When we were looking at venues for our Wedding, we must have looked at what felt like 100 venues in a very short space of time. There were a few key things we were looking for, Accommodation for family members coming from afar, a venue where members of the public wouldn't randomly be captured in your day and somewhere that was accessible for the ceremony and evening because we had some guests who had special needs. Once we had set eyes on Hockwold, there wasn't really another option which came close. The accommodation for the day and the option to have accommodation for the night before was something that worked perfectly for what we needed. Meeting the team initially was easy and everything was laid out for us as to how the day normally works we were showed all parts of the venue, including the rooms in the house and the area for the evening do. We were absolutely blown away by each and every part of it, the absolute clincher, if we needed one, was for sure the peacocks roaming the grounds. The house, marquee and grounds are the perfect setting for a Wedding and as I say once we had been shown around there was little to no discussion afterwards because we knew we had found our venue. The team were great once we had secured the date with them, we had constant updates on when payments were needed, had a tasting with the SHEFS company that they use for the food (Which was unreal and has since ruined all other puddings and food, which doesn't stack up to their standard), there was an option for a wine tasting and other Open Days to meet other vendors that they often work with which really helped us in regards to entertainment and decoration. We also had a pre-Wedding meeting around a month before to run through all our choices and to really sure up how the day would look, which was great because after a year and a half of thinking and planning it was nice to finalise things and get your mind around how everything will look and feel on the day. When we arrived at the house the day before, we were wowed again by the house and surroundings, a feeling that never wore off no matter how many times we visited and another feeling that was expressed by each and everyone of our guests, both those who stayed in the house and those who came for just the day. When the day finally arrived the staff made sure that everyone of our needs were catered for, the day ran so smoothly considering the nervous headspace we were both in. They held food and drinks back for us, ferried guests into the correct areas in the house always leaving a spare room for us to have moments of quiet contemplation as a newly married couple. Similarly to the day, the evening was just as smooth and everyone was well catered for in every way shape and form. I cannot imagine having the day anywhere else and we are already planning, if we can, to return on an anniversary to relive the day because it went way too fast. Living locally to such an amazing venue is always a bonus however we didn’t expect it to turn out as perfect as it has! From the first meeting we were filled with confidence that any questions or worries we had would be taken care of. On the day we had staff waiting for us to help us get into the right places at the right time and it all went to plan. The staff are a credit to the venue and worked tirelessly to meet anything we needed. The beautiful gardens and marquee helped set our magical day.
