We chose Hever because of all the good reviews but unfortunately having had my previous review of Hever taken down I know why there are only good reviews up. We had multiple things go wrong on the lead up to our day that were not addressed by anyone at Hever when raised. Multiple things went wrong with our day such as items on the event sheet not being followed. We have found Hever's wedding teams' professionalism lacking. It took 6 weeks to even have our complaint acknowledged after our wedding despite it being sent to the correct person. I'm extremely disappointed with the service especially with the way that Hever responded to mistakes made by them. We had the most magical wedding at Hever Castle! I can’t fault anything! The venue is stunning and the staff are amazing. Everything went smoothly and I was in constant contact with our wedding coordinator, Sarah, up to and on the day of our wedding. The food was fantastic. It was decorated for Christmas and that was our wedding theme and we didn’t need to add much decoration as it looked so lovely already. All our guests gave such great feedback and many said it had been the best wedding they had been too! All the staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. From the start, they welcomed us for multiple visits so we could really get to know the venue and picture how everything would come together. Hever Castle and its exceptional Events staff gave me some of the most beautiful moments of my life, and I will forever be grateful. I strongly recommend you choose this venue for your dream wedding. I've been obsessed with Tudor history since I was a child, so getting married at the castle where TWO Annes who carved their way in Henrician England resided... I can't even begin to describe how wondrous it was to know that Hever offered wedding packages. Before I wax poetic, I'll share the key highlights. The Events Staff: This was the dream team who took such good care of all of us! They truly made magic happen. I was a bride coordinating the festivities from the U.S., and despite the time zone differences, my event coordinators Sherry and Emily were so accommodating, warm, and friendly. I commend them especially for their prompt responses to ALL my questions (and I had so many). They really helped me with getting this wedding together. Thanks to the suppliers recommendation list they'd compiled, I truly had a fantastic group of vendors collaborating to make the wedding day as seamless and fun as possible. The day of the wedding, Paul was our coordinator, and he was an absolute legend. He was so thoughtful, and he skillfully wrangled a crowd of wandering guests and family members to ensure that we could stick to the schedule as much as possible. Paul and the day-of Events staff took a load off my mind in making sure the day flowed- all I had to do was put on my makeup, walk down the aisle, and then party on the lawns. After the party, they stayed up until it was nearly sunrise to clean, and *then* we saw them up and early to serve breakfast in the morning! The Events Staff at Hever are the crown jewel of this place--they will move mountains for you. The Grounds: Looking for a wedding theme? The castle and the grounds are absolutely a theme in themselves. There are so many sights to explore across age ranges, and all of our guests had fabulous adventures leading up to the wedding. There's so much to do, which lifted any concerns of keeping our loved ones entertained. Food: Thanks to Hever's Food & Drink staff, the menu was fantastic. The menus change depending on the season, and we had the chance to choose delicious courses for ALL our guests. I have friends who still dream of the chocolate fondant. I especially recommend Hever if you've guests with dietary restrictions - they will go the extra mile, reaching out to recommend the yummiest selections for people with more severe allergies. B&B: I adore the facilities at Hever- the rooms were spotless, and we lucked out with gorgeous weather the day of the wedding. Before I forget, my parent guests wanted to commend the B&B staff for making their rooms as safe for infants as possible (such as empty drawers, no sharp edges within reach). The morning after the wedding, we were impacted by transportation emergencies, and the staff were so accommodating, helping us sort through things even after checkout so we wouldn't leave flustered in the rush. (An extra thank you to the B&B staff for walking all over with us to drop off gift bags at every room for our guests. Their kindness and courtesy made us feel a lot more at home and cheerful during a time of high-intensity logistical anxiety.) Pricing: You get a very reasonable package for a Castle wedding, which includes food and drink. We had nearly 60 guests for the wedding and decided to book all the B&B rooms as well as Medley Court (the cottage by the B&B) - you can't imagine how convenient it is for breakfast to be settled for everyone the morning after the wedding before checkout. When Googling castle wedding venues in the UK, Hever popped up at the top of my search. Being that it was already my favourite place on earth from a previous visit, at once it became the ONLY place I wanted for my dream wedding! I called Hever's events department for details, and once my groom was on board (which was immediately), the year-long wedding planning began! Sherry was my most wonderful, most patient, most helpful coordinator, and amongst many initial suggestions, she mentioned that if we chose a date in January, the venue is closed to the public for the month, so we could have the castle to ourselves, all day, for our wedding! That sounded divine! So the planning began. My whole group, including myself, was coming from the US, and most of us don't drive in the UK, so we faced all sorts of logistical hurdles to attending a wedding in a remote part of England. But Sherry helped me every step of the way. Our big group of Yanks ended up filling the Hever B&B for two nights, so we enjoyed a full weekend at Hever, and our wedding day itself was not rushed. I selected my fantastic vendors from Hever's recommended suppliers list (which is useful for someone who lives abroad.) Every single person who worked with me along the planning stage was a dream! Hever's catering team, their florist Pamela, Ginny in the gift shop, and my fabulous suppliers, were all GREAT! For the entire wedding weekend, the operations team, lead by Nicky, was impeccable! Everything was PERFECT! The food was delicious, the service flawless, the ceremony and receptions (before and after "wedding breakfast") went smoothly, without a hitch; they even let us cut our cake in the drawing room and have a sparkler moment in front of the castle! It is not an easy task to plan a wedding from thousands of miles away and during a pandemic. That being said, if there was ever a place that could do it, it is Hever Castle. While the grounds and castle may tempt you to book already, the incredible kindness and care of Kate and her staff made our wedding at Hever a truly magical, once in a lifetime experience for us. We had our wedding at the Astor Wing of Hever Castle booked for two years, everything was in place, then eight days before our big day the government changed the rules due to COVID and everything had to be rearranged.
