We came across Gilbert Whites House & Gardens on this site and after reading the reviews, it was the first venue on our list. After our first visit the decision was made there and then, we didn't need to look any further. Even in December, the venue looked stunning and it wasn't difficult to picture what it would look like in mid-summer. The reality was even better than we imagined. From that point on, we were guided, by Jamie, through the process of planning our wedding. It was stress free and a lot of fun. Jamie accommodated us with all of our questions and with such patience as we measured up and began the process of creating a day to remember. Having time to set up the day before added to the feeling of community with friends and family joining in. The day itself was simply magical, there are no other words!! He is always perfectly composed and, from the moment we had our initial chat with him, we knew we were in very safe hands. We got married at Gilbert White’s House & Gardens in August 2025, and it was everything we’d hoped for and more. The setting is breathtaking, surrounded by nature, with views across the South Downs that make it feel like your own little world. Our ceremony was under a flower arch on the hill, and it couldn’t have been more beautiful or personal. We worked with Jamie, who was amazing from start to finish. He was calm, kind, and genuinely invested in helping the day run smoothly. He even collected the bridal party from the entrance to make sure the band started at the perfect moment and was so hands on throughout; moving things around, keeping the day flowing, and always one step ahead. We had changes in our wedding contact but they made sure all our information was passed on and everything ran smoothly, Jamie was are coordinator for our big day and was incredible! We had the most incredible wedding at Gilbert White's House barn in Selborne this July, and we couldn’t be happier with how the day turned out. The weather was hot, and the venue looked absolutely stunning in the summer light, with the surrounding gardens and historic buildings creating the perfect backdrop. We got married at The Barn at Gilbert White's in September 2024 - a stunning venue which worked perfectly, both visually but also contributing to a relaxed and fun environment. We had the BEST day ever celebrating our wedding at Gilbert White's House! Thanks to the amazing events and catering teams our day went so smoothly and we didn't need to worry about a thing! They were there for us every step of of the way and made sure all our questions were answered. The team were so kind, flexible and understanding when it came to arranging (and re-arranging... and re-re-arranging - thanks covid!) our day, from going to see the venue, to suggesting vendors for flowers, transport and everything in between, and during the set up, day and pack down. We were allowed access to the barn the afternoon before and morning after the wedding, which made set up and pack down a lot less stressful than if we had to do it all on the day, and meant that we could spend the whole afternoon the day before making the barn look exactly the way we wanted. We even had some time at the end of the afternoon to practice walking down the aisle! We also decided to use the on-site catering team for our wedding breakfast, canapes and evening food, which was all absolutely delicious and our guests are still talking about the pork belly one month on! Our tasting was also an amazing (and delicious) experience and the team were happy to work with any and all of our dietary requirements.
