We wanted to marry somewhere that was different to all our friends but never thought we could afford a castle. We felt like royalty on the day. Our family and friends said they hadn't been to a wedding so beautiful. The food was incredible. Nothing was too much trouble. We had our outdoor wedding at Castle Goring on the 22nd of July 2017, it was the best day of our lives. We cannot praise this venue enough. The building itself is extraordinary and has a romantic atmosphere. We instantly fell in love with Castle Goring from the moment we took a cab up the driveway and the impressive house came into view. Beyond the beauty of the location, the hosts were incredibly helpful in giving tours, answering questions and setting up for our big day. This venue is great value for money compared to other castles we visited, as we were encouraged to use the various spaces for different parts of the wedding. We used the ceremonial hall, the gardens (with marquee), the state rooms, the foyer and the bridal suite, and guests loved the experience of moving about and exploring an historic home. Our son and new wife had their wonderful wedding reception at Castle Goring on Saturday. As parents we were very impressed with the wedding venue and felt we must share our thoughts. The whole experience of organising the wedding from the initial meeting with Lady C and her son Dima back in October to now has been superb. They were professional and accommodating to all our requests but most of all they made us feel extremely welcome to share their home on such a special occasion. We dressed the venue with many accessories and lots of greenery the day before the wedding to make it personal to us. On arrival at Castle Goring after a church service in Brighton we went upstairs to the beautiful lounge area for welcome drinks and had organised a pianist to play romantic music. As the sun was shining, some guests flowed out onto the balcony and into garden to make a wonderful atmosphere. We had about 120 guests so had opted for the marquee in the garden which was perfect. We used Super Events for the catering and their food and service was exceptional all through the event. The Bridal Suite was used during the day for the bride/bridesmaids needs. In the evening we organised a band to play in the Dance Room and another 100 or so guests turned up to celebrate with us. We had a bar in the foyer and marquee which worked well. We had a great day at the castle. The food was excellent the service was great, plenty of character and charm about the place and lady colin campbell’s presence made it even more special. It was just about ok for us numbers wise - having around 100 guests, any more and a marquee probably more suitable, which is possible. The location is ok though very near the a27 - you do hear some traffic noise from the venue - but this did not matter for us as most of the day was spent inside. It is worth having some thought how you use the various rooms during the day for instance it did rain for a period so guests were all in a relatively small room for a period until they gradually spread out. There are extra lounge rooms which are worth using (if accessible at the time) as i understand the upstairs area was not available while the meal was being prepared, so quite a bit of socialising was done in the hall way/stairway area. In terms of the dance area - a great room but again for 100 or so guests a bit of a squash so some of the items like photo montage, and singing was not visible to all. The food and drink was good although note unlike some venues you cannot bring your own alcohol which will face a premium cost wise as it will need to be ordered through the suppliers. Having seen this beautiful venue completely come to life throughout its renovation; it was truly amazing to be the first to get married there! We had countless compliments from our guests about how ideal the Castle was for our big day. It really did feel like true luxury having the whole place to ourselves. The flexibility of the space was brilliant - we were able to pick which parts of our day happened where. The castle has some real wow features. We love the pictures we got on the wonderful staircase. Lady C was attentive from start to finish, and an all round lovely host. Sophie was the perfect wedding planner and made the day effortless. A huge thank you to you both, and all who worked hard on getting the renovations done in time! I'd highly recommend this beautiful Castle to anyone considering a venue for their special day.
