Having looked around several local venues we decided upon the Basingstoke Country Hotel, for a couple of reasons. The first was that Polly (Events Manager) was very knowledgeable, organised and could either answer every question we had or, found the answer almost immediately. Other venues we visited did not respond to queries we had during the initial meeting. Not only did Polly come across as very knowledgable and experienced but she also gave us far more confidence than staff at other venues in getting everything organised and ensuring the day ran smoothly. The venue and Polly were very accommodating and keen show their flexibility in working with us in order to realise our dream day. The flexibility in tailoring packages and not sticking with a rigid structure enabled us to tweak exactly what was being delivered on the day to ensure a great experience not only for us, but for all of our guests as well. It was also great to see Polly liaising with all the other service providers (photographer, flourist, cake maker etc) in order to reduce our input/stresses on the day and during the build up. We had very positive feedback from all of our guests about how nice the venue looked and how attentive the staff were throughout the day. We found that additional small touches, such as organising earlier access to certain rooms to get ready, sorting out drinks for all the children during the Champagne arrival drinks and also providing some snacks for the groomsmen and bridal party during the morning (at no additional cost) made a big difference to us and again, helped towards making the event as stress free as possible. On 7th September 2012 I had my wedding at the Basingstoke Country Hotel, we chose the wedding in a box package so glad we did it was brilliant. We also held our wedding ceremony there … The cake and flowers which were included in the package were just beautiful and the food was top class. We had an amazing day everything ran smoothly, the staff were absolutely wonderful, attentive and professional there was nothing they could not do for us or our quests to ensure that we had the most excellent day & evening. We stayed in one of the suites, fabulous massive room has dining table and chairs great for room service, fridge, loads of wardrobe and cupboard space, serious size bed which was so comfy. We got married in May 2005 and the staff were wonderful, both very efficient and helpful. The venue was very reasonable and didn't blow the budget, and the function room was perfect as it had huge patio doors overlooking the very well kept yen style courtyard garden. This long, low hotel is actually much more impressive than it appears at first. Literally just off the A30 you initially think the hotel is quite small but once inside you realise what a rabbit warren it really is. There is a friendly atmosphere and the service is discreet but efficient. Having a reception in the garden out the back is a lovely way to kick off the celebrations and the gardens are completely safe for young children, as well being pleasantly secluded from all noise and neighbours.
