Songbird Wedding Videos

I felt compelled to comment here because our experience with Jamie at Songbird Wedding Videos was completely different. Even in Oliver’s review it’s clear Jamie was professional on the day, discreet, and delivered a highlights film they were happy with. That already says a lot about the quality of his work and his approach. From our experience, Jamie’s style is intentionally documentary and cinematic rather than a long, literal recording of every second of the day. That creative storytelling is exactly why we chose Songbird. Our wedding films were beautifully edited and captured the atmosphere and emotion of the day perfectly. It’s also worth remembering that wedding films are creative edits of the same footage, so highlights naturally appear across different versions of the final films. That’s very normal in wedding videography and certainly not “lazy”. As for the turnaround time, we also waited longer than we had hoped, but once we received the films it was obvious how much care, editing skill and craftsmanship had gone into them. Quality work does take time, and in our case it was absolutely worth the wait. Out of more than 150 reviews, this appears to be the only negative one, which really speaks for itself. On the wedding day itself, the videographer was pleasant and did not get in anyone's way, which is all one can ask for. We were pleased with the 7 minute highlights video we received, which looked professional and captured most of the key moments we expected. However, things went downhill from there. When the full-length video arrived (a week or so before the deadline), we were surprised to find that Songbird had essentially reproduced the exact same highlights video they had already sent us, only this time it was split up by the full-length speeches and ceremony videos (which we received separately anyway), which were inserted in the middle. Not only did this seem like a lazy approach, it also resulted in a product that was not remotely what Songbird advertise or what we had discussed and agreed over the phone and via email. We had expected a natural, documentary-style video, and outside of the speeches and ceremony, what we received was essentially a trailer, with zero audio from the day and a series of 2-3 second clips, maybe 5-10 seconds of our first dance and omitting other key parts of the day. Even the speeches weren't filmed properly, with one of the bridesmaids half out of shot. We sent an email to Songbird 16 days ago voicing our concerns and requesting a resolution. We used Songbird for our wedding earlier this year and I'm so glad that we did. Unfortunately our other photographer let us down but the team from Songbird stepped in and made sure that we captured the images that we were missing. The videos are fantastic post event, they are very responsive to edit requests and have even been able to splice in some material that was recorded on a phone.
