Marie Whitehead Photography Introducing Myself: I have been a professional photographer for the past 46 years. I specialised in photography in the 80s and got a Higher National Diploma in Visual Communications at Middlesbrough College's 3-year course after a 2-year course in Oldham in Art and Design. During this course, I took the initiative to go to London and photograph the Student Fashion Awards at the Albert Hall for the clothes show with designer Jeff Banks, which got published in the Face magazine. After college, I went to work in Manchester in major studios as a stylist and assistant doing commercial photography. Then, I got the opportunity to go live in New York for 12 months, where I freelanced for the New York Times and Newsday Photography of Prince Phillip and Princess Diana on two occasions, as well as a women's skiing championship. On my return to the UK moved to Cumbria and joined the PYBT, where in my first year got a major deal to do a big commercial job and then went on to win best Business of the year for Cumbria by his then Royal Highness Prince Charles who I met on several occations and went to London to recive my award presented By his Highness in 1990-91. My wedding photography started with friends and family when I found I loved it. Then I returned to New York and followed my dream to work with major-name photographers and studios doing fashion and commercial photography as well as weddings. I became friends with a Lady who started a modelling agency and became their photographer and got my own studio in midtown Manhattan, which also led to me doing Public Enemy's album cover and photographing Stars such as Denzel Washington, Chris Rock, Dave Chappel and numerous others. On my return to my home in Greater Manchester, based in Saddleworth, after becoming a Mother took time off to raise my son with special needs autism. Went back into photography in 2012 and have gone viral several times with my Landscapes. Took up mainly being a wedding photographer, as I have a keen eye for details and use my skills to pose couples as well as some candid images, capturing those special moments, organising group photographs and placing them in the best light. I often work alongside a second photographer and a videographer to capture all these special moments and give the couples both still photographs as well as a video edited down to highlight those special moments. Marie Whitehead Photography is a wedding photographer based in Manchester.
