Your wedding ceremony doesn't have to feel like the formal bit you have to get through before the party starts. Emily Ayres is an independent celebrant based in South Wales, creating relaxed, personal wedding ceremonies for couples who want something that actually feels like them. Before becoming a celebrant, Emily spent five years working as a registrar and has officiated hundreds of weddings. She knows weddings inside out, including the legal side, but she also knows just how much more freedom couples can have when they're not restricted by a standard ceremony script. And that's exactly why she became a celebrant. Every ceremony Emily creates is written completely from scratch. No templates. No choosing between paragraph A, B or C. She gets to know the people at the centre of the wedding, finds the stories and little details that make their relationship theirs, and turns them into a ceremony that's warm, engaging and genuinely enjoyable to be part of. Couples don't need to arrive knowing exactly what they want, either. Emily guides them through the whole process - from finding the right tone and structure to personal vows, readings, music and meaningful ceremony elements they might never have considered. Romantic? Absolutely. Guests laughing? Even better. Children involved? Dogs making an appearance? A ring warming, handfasting, or something completely different? There are very few (no?) rules here (!). Emily believes a wedding ceremony can be emotional without feeling forced, meaningful without being overly serious and personal without being cringey. On the day, she'll work alongside the venue and other suppliers to make sure everything runs smoothly, leaving the couple free to concentrate on the fairly important business of getting married .
